heyy considering that you are one of the biggest idwtkoh fan in in tumblr (i just got in here like today) have you heard or read that samchon new manhwa? it's called false paradise and it's translated officialy on webtoon! (i know! crazy right?) its only 14 chapters in but it oozes with alot of the great psychological dilemma writing that samchon is known for ^_^
I will bear the moniker of the biggest tumblr idwtkoh fan with honour but I also want to drag others down into the depths with me so someone can surpass me.
Trust me, I am reading false paradise like my life depended one it. I happened to be watching ads to read more up to date episodes right before seeing your ask.
I was so sad when I wanted to catch up with 'The Daily Lives of Ghosts', which is what Samchon wrote after idwtkoh, only to find out that no new chapters have been translated in years. I don't know why webtoon didn't officially translate that one. But I must admit that False Paradise is hooking me in initially more than Ghosts was at the start.
I love the direction it is going at the moment. Initially I was trying to figure out what the recurring themes of the story would be, like how idwtkoh tackled racism. To me so far, False Paradise is trying to impart the experience of animals in a world dominated by humans. Which seems obvious reading the premise, but I haven't come across a story yet that tries to find metaphors and sci-fi concepts to make equivalents of what our world must feel like to animals. I like the concept of 'garbage' specifically, and how it made me reflect on what radiation zones would be like for animals; human waste created as a byproduct of our technology, that is extremely dangerous, invisible, and can change/break down the body.
Someone with knowledge on animal psychology could probably give some interesting analysis into how the sci-fi ideas introduced by Samchon are equivalences to our world. I know that some animals see human body parts as equivalent to their own bodies, because they cannot process it any other way, like an octopus seeing fingers as tentacles. I believe this may be the inspiration to the plot points brought up in chapter 18.
I also really like that the main character, Sanho, makes a lot of mistakes. He is a very active participant in the story despite his situation of being stuck. I think it makes him a lot more interesting that he wasn't just taken to paradise because of an accident out of his control. He died and is in the situation he hates because of his knee-jerk reaction to destroy/hurt something he didn't understand. Which could be an interesting comment on the nature of humanity.
His intuition made him overconfident. He did not believe he could fail. Humanity is the top of the food chain and it feels only natural that we will be safe. His powers of intuition gives him a believable reason to act so self-assuredly at the start of the story, but it could also be seen as a metaphor for Man's hubris without making Sanho unsympathetic or unlikable.
I didn't even realise I had so much to say about the story so far!! I love Samchon I will give them my first born if they asked! Please if you have any thoughts please reply I would love to gush about it
