Ruby/Sam/Dean

i'd forgotten about my "send me a ship and i'll give you my brutally honest opinion on it" asks, but better late than never!!

this ot3 (it really would just be samdean+ruby since they're incapable of being a proper ot3 with anybody) intrigues me but i think i'm interested in the competition more than anything else.

i dislike rewriting ruby to be on sam's side because that doesn't only alter her character and motivations, but turns sam's demon blood arc into something different too.

on the other hand, if dean is suddenly on board with sam's self-destruction disguised as a power trip there's no longer a need for ruby's reassurances. if sam feels accepted by dean and gets dean to hand over the reins to him, then the only thing left for ruby to provide that sam isn't getting elsewhere is her blood. then again even though her influence on him weakens, sam still does what she wants him to do and this time dean's complicit too.
