(A headcanon based on: 1. DUNE: Sand Worms/Leto II who produce spice that can be consumed by human beings; 2. Bird’s rumination when feeding nestlings; 3. Hebrew myths. I am supposing that Azir does not eat after becoming an Ascended. Since there is no metabolite or digesting stuff inside Azir, the slime-like thing he ruminates is “a part of his body”.)
