As agreed, he’d come in disguise and unarmed. No one knew he was here.
“Your little love notes were cute. Did you require ever ship to have the same note posted for me to the mast?” Sandokan sat in the chair, putting his feet up on the desk, not even trying to hide his disdain for his father-in-law in name only. “You’ve been asking to speak to me.” The pirate flippantly waived his hand. “Well? Speak.”
Lord Guillonk’s face went red with irritation. “For the last two years as you’ve wagged war against myself and Sultan Brooke, Marianne has been spotted at your side at every turn. Now she hasn’t been spotted on your ship for over four months. Did you kill my daughter?”
Sandokan stared off into the distance for a moment clearly deciding on what answer to give this man who tried to have his wife locked in an insane asylum. Marianne had made her wishes clear on what her father was and was not to know about her condition, but Sandokan knew it would destroy the man to know. “Marianne’s safe at home. She agreed it was best for the time being.”
Lord Guillonk’s hand slammed on the desk. “That’s a lie! If she ran away from Labuan for her freedom there is no way my daughter would stay in some jungle hut for you.”
Sandokan sighed. This man didn’t understand his daughter at all. “About six months ago, Marianne asked me for something. I granted her request.” Sandokan leaned over the desk. “Congratulations. Your bloodline is continuing.” he refused to call the man a grandfather.
