Tajiri’s days couldn’t stay quiet forever, and he was fooling himself if he thought they could. They’d been nice and peaceful for a while, feeling like something was finally at peace with the world. But the world isn’t united by peace - the only things that unite anything are blood and war. So this bubble, this fragile, peaceful little life he’d found, was shattered unceremoniously by the sound of war drums and shouting.
He rolled his eyes so hard he felt the muscles spasm in his left, then got to his hooves and went to check it out, surveying the scene from a nice vantage point he’d found.
Blood everywhere. Bodies everywhere too, probably goblins. What else did he expect? And then, in the middle of the madness, a strange woman. A two-legs. Covered in blood and acting like a cornered animal that had been caged for years. Rabid eyes darting about. Even from up here, Tajiri could tell something was wrong.
Had they hurt her? Blasted things.
He rolled his shoulders back, picked up his batons, ran back through his hideaway, and then joined the fray - hitting the goblins where it would hurt, but wouldn’t kill. A few bones broke under the blows, though nothing would leave lasting damage, instead just being an inconvenience for a short while and hopefully reminding them of what not to do.
For the last one, taunting the strange woman, he just lifted one of his legs and kicked them in the back, watching them fall forward with a satisfying ‘plosh’ sound into the blood. His tail flicked from side to side, and he looked up at the woman.
“Are you alright?” he asked. He couldn’t hide the wrinkle in his nose at the smell, or the fact she was a two-legs - clumsy, hopeless things, they usually were - but he could try and be civil, at least. “The look in your eyes, did they hurt you?”
