I need to rewatch the episodes bc I was only able to listen to them at work today, so my opinion might change, but I thought the joke Link made in reference to 2/3rds was interesting. Bc I would have guessed guys are more likely to approach it as more of a horndog response of that percentage being “almost as high as their own/equal to their own chances.” So from an auditory perspective only I figured it was either Link purposely inverting expectation for a self depreciation style joke (which wouldn’t be the first time he’s put himself down for the bit), but there’s also the chance it was a Freudian slip. But as you said in last post it could be Rhett’s paranoia causing that weird reaction anon was picking up on as well.

I swear those two are never on the same page. Link feels more open to joking and Rhett clams up and then when Rhett is being teasing and bringing up shippers Link is 🙄 and starts bringing up Christy more. They’re a mess but it’s part of why I enjoy them 😂

For real! (I mean, technically they do rarely but usually one will bring up a wall the moment he sees the other go crazy lol it's maddening)

I was attempting to find a post that talked about the boys and hanging out on Thursdays. I thought it was a post of yours but I’m having trouble finding it. Can’t sort out what key words to use 🙃 By any chance do you have any info on that topic? How they decided to have a day to hang out/history of it? Cuz rn I’m feeling like I’m going a little whacky like I imagined it 😅

It must have been me. The problem is I am SO bad at finding older posts that are not in the masterlists, even when they are mine lol

Roughly I can tell you that Rhett and Link have been constantly adjusting the personal time they spend together. In the first years of GMM, when they did not have a large crew, they were together all the time for business but had too little time for their families, which caused issues with their wives. The most notorious part of the story was when they told us in Ear Biscuits they were spending so much time together that they had to set some limits to it and then they disclosed some borderline really weird stuff, like that they had implemented rules about not meeting during holidays etc They had reportedly even said that if they accidentally met in the same supermarket aisle when both in NC for vacation, they had to not speak to each other or cross eyes... which was curious for... a number of reasons. After some months or a couple years like that they came out and said that this plan and their hectic schedule were draining their friendship and they were now going towards the opposite direction, ensuring they would weekly spend some quality time together. To our knowledge, they are still on this plan, and a couple years ago they had said they had weekly movie nights together, either watching something at the movie theater or in the Creative House. This was usually every Thursday. I don't know what the status is currently but they have not informed us of any major change in the management of their personal time together, unless they have said something I am not aware of in MS.

You needn’t ever apologize for how fandom discourse makes you feel. Fandom is shit most of the time anyway with their takes on characters. Vanya and Luther are vilified so much it’s ridiculous. They aren’t my faves but even so I don’t see how they’re hated so much. Well Vanya is either woobified or vilified and both takes are bad. She has issues sure, but none of them are perfect. Some stuff is out of her control so to hate her on it is stupid. And Luther? The moon memes may be (1/2)

I agree with you. I don’t even like Luther, but I can take a step back from my feelings to recognize his abuse and how it plays into his actions. Sure, I want to slap him in ep 9 and 10, but I can also see why he acts that way, and despite being wrong, he also deserves empathy and understanding just like the others. And yes, the “dad sent me to the moon” jokes always sat wrong with me. It was a torture and he suffered from it, and now he’s trying desperately to connect it with what’s happening in the present timeline, he wants to believe he wasn’t sent up there for nothing, so he brings it up a lot. We’ve seen how hard he broke down when he realized he actually was sent up there for nothing.

And for Vanya… it’s funny because at first I wasn’t much invested in her. I liked her and related to her, but that was all. Because I tend to be attracted to characters where there’s a lot of layers to analyze to understand them and their actions, and for Vanya, it seemed to me everything was laid out bare and very explicitly to understand her and understand how it came up to that point. But then I saw how the fandom treated her and some of them would make her up to be an abuser and a vilify her and it really surprised me ? Pushed me to analyze her more and now she’s one of my faves. Of course she does bad things, but just like the others. That’s the point of the show.

And for that last point you made… well, maybe it’s because I’m a psychologist, but even for those persons, we can dug deeper. I can’t say much of Reginald because he’s pretty much the cause of everything and we didn’t see enough of him to really dig more, but for Harold, it’s actually very interesting to analyze him. Because we can feel empathy toward him, or at least toward the child he was. When I say that, I don’t mean “we have to excuse what he’s done because he had a hard childhood”. He became a murderer, an abuser, and overall an actual psychopath unable to feel for others and centered around his own satisfaction. But I don’t believe people are just born evil, so I find it interesting to explore the hows and whys. 

(I actually have a meta I want to write that compare Vanya and Harold and how one became an abuser (and worse) and how the other didn’t. Not sure it’d be well received though but yeah, most of my takes aren’t really welcome in the fandom so)

I overall love this show and how they changed from the comics (I like the comics too btw, but they choose another tone and another angle) to focus more on the psychological aspect, and I think they did it in a brillant way. They showed different ways in which abuse can affect people, they showed someone becoming an abuser and a murderer after his abuse, they showed people who became trainwrecks of human beings because of it, who sometimes fuck up and do bad things, but who are all (I’m talking about the 7 siblings) good at heart, but terribly damaged and still works in progress trying to better themselves and recover from their abusive childhood.

And the show did that in a sensitive way.

And this is why it’s so frustrating to me when I see most of the fandom seemingly missing this ? I try my best to learn from my past fandom experience and just ignore it and rant in private and don’t let it get to me, but when things are going badly in my real life, seeing those takes online tends to get to me more.

I’ve recently fell down the Bante rabbit hole bc those kids are adorable and young Kliego is equally important as adult. There’s an edit video on insta that features Dante in football gear and Blake is a dancer so it made me think of the concept of jock!Klaus and and dancer!Diego. My brain went to center stage!AU but either way I think it’s an interesting switch since most picture Diego as more masculine interests and Klaus in the feminine light but I like to flip that dynamic

Oooh yes I saw videos of them ! I’m very casual about rpf tho (like “aw they’re cute” but nothing more), but I saw that vid where Allison’s young actor (I don’t recall her name) is filming like “their feet are basically touching” and 2s later Blake is snuggling against Dante and like, that’s cute. It find it really heartwarming to see that whatever the age, the actors of Klaus and Diego always seem to get along well together.

and ooh that sounds super interesting ! I don’t know Center Stage but I love the idea of Diego being the ballet kid and Klaus being into football. I think something funny would be that Klaus is still his gender non-conforming self and Diego still gives off the feeling of being like this rebel very manly (well, as manly as a kid can be) kid, but then turns out Diego is the one doing dance and Klaus is the one into football and he’s actually one of the best and more into it. 

And i’m sorry if I bent your idea or seemed to reply aside, I’m having a hard time right now but I wanted to focus on some cute kliego and your ask was sitting here since a while.

Anyway, thanks for the cute thoughts <3 kliego is good at any age tbh and I love to see how their dynamics could change with time in canon, and how they could be in AUs <3

I saw it !! I was like “ooh, Rob uploaded a nice photo of himself” but then I checked who ACTUALLY posted the pic and I was like “HOLY SHIT IT’S FROM DAVID” and it made melt a bit. It was such a cute and pretty pic and there’s their little silliness of them playing this little game with paint brushes and those aesthetic photos ?

Klaus has an affinity for languages and when he saw Diego struggling he learned ASL and taught Diego so he could still communicate when words failed him.

I love this headcanon ! Klaus one day just come to Diego and sit him down to teach him some useful words/sentences like saying he’s in pain, hungry, tired, some words to express emotions (because he knows Diego struggles with those the most), and then as it goes and Diego uses them when he can’t articulate a word, they start to get more complex. Sometimes, when Reginald is lost in thoughts, they use it to talk during meals despite the prohibition to do so. Eventually, the other siblings learn it too, both to communicate with Diego and to talk during meals. Reginald notices it though, and despite him thinking with a very tiny shred of pride that they adapted to their environment, he forbids them again to use it during meals. 

It’s ok though, Klaus has started to learn morse code.

More headcanons; Klaus writes poetry and everyone knows he’s creative. His walls are covered in scrawling words of random thoughts and feelings. What most don’t know is Diego has a talent for drawing. It helps him focus and it’s easier than stringing words together some days.

That’s a really interesting ideas ! I already seen Klaus portrayed as an artist (which I love btw), but I love the idea of Diego developing an interest in drawing because it was something he could connect to and that didn’t need words. As someone with adhd who often struggle with finding my words, I can relate to this.

Maybe Reginald tried to discourage him from it because it wasn’t “useful” (I’m thinking of how he put all the art pieces that didn’t relate to him or the Umbrella Academy at Grace’s place, who he didn’t consider as more than a tool). But Diego kept doodling in secret, loving the escape it gave him.

And Klaus loved seeing him draw, scribbling some poetry on the side inspired by what Diego would be drawing. In the corner of his room, Klaus still has some folded papers on which Diego drew. Maybe later Diego kept being reserved about his drawings, keeping it from others especially since it didn’t seem to fit with his macho vigilante persona. But during calm nights, alone in the boiler rooms, he likes doodling anyway. When he comes back at the manor, being the first one there, he takes a quick trip to Klaus’ room to see his poems and thoughts, and check if he wrote any new ones in the meantime.
