Part 1

Why Maximilian Calls Vishkar “Slippery”

One detail I really liked in the new short story is that Maximilien never refers to Sanjay (even though I want him too) he refers to Vishkar

I think Vendetta still needs to negotiate with Sanjay in order for Vishkar to be on their side— Sanjay IS the liaison after all

But then I realized the constrast: Moira and Widow are individuals

They can be persuaded with funding, resources, and drug supply

Their loyalty is at a personal selfish level, but

Vishkar isn’t

Vishkar is a corporation. And even if Vendetta convinces Sanjay, it goes through internal review, align with corporate language, and maintain the company’s reputation

Maximilien is warning her to be careful with optics and framing, not ideals.

She has to talk about:

redevelopment

recovery

opportunity

This is stated in the written story (not the video)

"But their reputation is no longer as flawless as they'd like others to believe. They miss the days of the Crisis when they were the shining heroes, rebuilding the world at a massive profit."

This is what Vendetta must appeal to in order to ensure their support

Part 2:

Why Doomfist Benefited From Vishkar More Than Vendetta Does

Under Doomfist, Talon’s ideology directly aligned with Vishkar’s interests

Doomfist believed that destruction leads to rebirth (sound familiar?)

Vishkar thrives in the aftermath of destruction

Cuz then they can swoop in and control the narrative and be the "Heros"

Let's take the 'The Rio incident"

For a long time I suspected that Vishkar weren't the ones that actually started (physically orchestrating it I mean) the fire—It was Doomfist—ordered by Sanjay (Vishkar)

The idea was that they would "Save Rio" after this fire

This is how I believe their contract works under Doomfist

You cause the destruction -> We Save it -> Your ideology is validated

But Vendetta doesn’t share that worldview

She doesn’t seem interested in destruction as philosophy—not how Doom did

I am entirely unsure of Vendetta's relationship with reckless chaos and destruction for "rebirth" but I don't think she aligns with Doomfist ideals

Therefore, I don't she she benefits from Vishkar (maybe money, but I wouldn't know how)

But here’s the thing: that doesn’t mean she can drop them

Vishkar isn’t valuable to Vendetta in terms of resources—but what they represent in terms of power

Under Vendettas leadership, she will have more pressure on her in order to keep Talon's name and power uncontested

If Talon suddenly

>stops working with global corporations

>abandons long-standing relationships,

>reduces the amount of destruction left in their past

Then Talon looks unstable

And in this high stress transition in leadership, instability is weakness

So even if Vendetta gained nothing from Doomfist's partnership with Vishkar, it's in her best interest to uphold the idea that even under her leadership nothing has broken inside Talon

That continuity and perception of power matters more to her than ideology

This is why Maximilien recommend she seeks them out in order to have them support her new Empire

MOTHERFUCKING SANJAY ART—IN 2026???

'Vested Interests' gave us new Sanjay art (it's a silhouette that you can't really confirm as Sanjay but I'll take what I can get) but 'The Upper Hand' gave us, not 1 not 2 but 3 Sanjay mentions (and they're all insults 💜)

1. Sanjay is Spinless

I doubt this is anything new. You can put the man next to a jellyfish and he'll still look spineless

This sentence is more to emphasize Miss Sighania's power

But this is also a commentary on confidence. This further confirms Sanjay's performative superiority. Sanjay regards himself very highly, his confidence exists because of his position and his power are all built on the backs of his allies

But alone? Sanjay has nothing. That's why Singhania is miles above him. While Sanjay's identity is tied to the company—Singhania IS the company

So this line says, despite all the confidence Sanjay radiates, he's nothing compared to someone with actual power

2. Sanjay is inadequate, incompetent, and career motivated

We love an ambitious king

The sequence implied that Vendetta either called or emailed Sanjay then met up with him in person

We've seen Sanjay negotiate before.

He speaks like he's a walking talking PR 101 book. He truly thinks Vishkar overshadows any competitor, which has a tendency to make him overly confident and rather pretentious if the other person doesn't agree

Also he has a tendency to use "flattery language" (which I find really funny)

However, Sanjay doesn't speak with conviction, but with entitlement. The reputation he believes Vishkar still holds has gone to his head and Vendetta sees right through that

So this line shows Sanjay's inability to manipulate someone with more conviction, power and foresight to not fall for his deception

What about the 'ambition line'? Sanjay had always given me the impression of someone always seeking power. Not for the motivation to further their career and purpose—but survival and self worth

That he seeks power to protect himself from realizing what little agency he truly has

His relationship with Sighania

Fair to assume Sighania is one of Sanjay's....many...many superiors, though probably not his direct boss

Her lines don't necessarily insult him directly, but are revealing in their own way

I find it very humorous that Vendetta calls her conversation with Sanjay a "negotiation" while he reframes it as a "delicate conversation" showing he was quickly shut down and was unable to hold his ground

And with Vendetta additional information of viewing Sanjay's offer as an insult, we can theorize that the following happened"

> Sanjay, overly confident, gives an unfair deal

> Vendetta, insulted, threatened and humiliated Sanjay, demanding to see his superiors at once

>Sanjay, effectively intimidated, warns Sighania in the most PR way "That woman is scary—be careful"

Unfortunately, I am unable to theorize Sanjay's relationship to Sighania, she dismisses him easily and has no further remarks about him. He's insignificant to her as far as we know

And that's all I can say about Sanjay in 'The Upper Hand' but this story has had me hooked and I'm excited to see you more of Domina's character, Vishkar as a company, and more. I would like to speak about her separately another time
