the fact that the marauders always fought Snape 4 to 1 is such a funny and underappreciated thing. Like no wonder Sirius was tense when he was standing off with Snape at grimmauld place, boy knew he was about to get his ass handed to him in front of his godson. Snape's restraint in that scene is off the charts. You know he's not having a problem with the guy who didn't use magic for 12 years, and couldn't face him head on even as teen.

Severus Snape is a feral street boy who will wreck your ass if you so much look at him wrong, so of course the high and might posh boys would be scared shitless of him.

Headcanon that the Marauders always moved together as a group because they were afraid of finding themselves 1 on 1 with Snape, that James asked his father for the Invisibility Cloak just so that he could make a hasty tactical retreat whenever needed, and that they created the map with one purpose: avoid Snape's path at all costs.
