supercorp + "why did i let you talk me into this?" 😁
“Why did I let you talk me into this?”
“Hush, you look fantastic.”
And she does - Lena has literally never been this attracted to Kara, and that’s saying something when her girlfriend spends half her time in a skintight bodysuit fighting crime. But Kara in a fitted black tux, her hair pinned back with golden curls spilling down onto her shoulders, her neck tense as she lifts her chin for Lena to tie her bowtie? That’s something else entirely, and Lena is weak.
“Your heart’s going crazy right now.”
“Turn around and look in the mirror, you’ll see why.”
4. Do you have any writing habits/rituals?: i have to listen to music as i write so i need to like…play a playlist before i sit down to actually do it
14. What does it take for you to be ready to write a book? (i.e. do you research? outline? make a playlist or pinterest board? wing it?): before i write a fic i generally plan something in my head (vaguely). really i just wing it and start writing a beginning. if i get inspired to continue, then i do! but sometimes i do research (like this Pride and Prejudice AU, and before i started writing “you and me”)
24. Do you remember the moment you decided to become a writer/author?: no because i was a dumb kid agfhsjskjaskj i think i was in middle school, filling notebooks w/the most cringe-worthy stories that i actually thought were good :/
34. Unpopular writing thoughts/opinions?: um i guess that second person POV is confusing and i hate it! but then again that’s just because i’m dumb
44. Why (and when) did you decide to become a writer?: i wanted to be a writer because it was all i was good at as a kid lmao plus i really liked horror stories and my dream was to write a book full of scary stories…that was ages ago though
54. Favorite first line/opening you’ve written?: i don’t think i have any one in particular but i do like the beginning like 4 paragraphs of “half melted m&m’s” because i thought it was a decent start to introducing the casual cold-but-not-heartless characterization of lena in that fic!
ANNA thank you so much ❤ here it is, 44 from one hundred ways to say i love you
Kara’s been thrown through many doors before.
It seems like a haphazard of the job at this point, but it’s not until she’s shoved backwards into one of the large doors of L-Corp and glass explodes does she realize that this time is different. She’s so exhausted that it takes a minute to register that it hurts this time around; instead of being an inconvenience, it’s suddenly incapacitating.
She gets back up, slower than usual, legs quivering and face stinging; she’s so weak that she staggers over a second later, hands barely catching herself from landing face-first on the floor, shards of glass embedding themselves into her palms.
“Supergirl!” J'onn yells from far away, likely tackling the alien Kara’s been fighting before it can follow her into the building.
“J'onn!” she calls back, helplessly, pushing herself up again. Her head feels woozy and the bitter metallic taste of blood lingers in her mouth; she can’t hear what’s happening, not without her super hearing. This is the absolute worst time to blow out her powers, as she and J'onn have been fighting this alien since earlier this morning and now, suddenly, Kara can’t do anything but watch.
She needs to call Alex. She needs to go back out there. She needs to call James if need be. But she doesn’t get a chance to do either because out of nowhere she hears a cautious,
“Supergirl?”
When Kara whirls around, Lena is standing behind her, brow furrowed in confusion. “You’re bleeding,” she says slowly. “How—”
“I’m sorry about your door,” Kara cuts her off. Her heart is racing, suddenly, because Lena isn’t supposed to see her this vulnerable; she tentatively reaches up to her face, wincing when the pressure of her fingertips against the fresh cuts is too much. “I—I just need some time to recover. I’ll be fine.”
But Lena doesn’t leave. “Supergirl,” she repeats. “If I can help you in any way…”
“No, thank you,” Kara assures her. “I’ll be just—” Just then, a nearby explosion wracks the building, and out of habit she throws herself over Lena to protect her, cape raised over both of their heads.
Lena grips onto her shoulders, obviously worried when she sees Kara grimace at the touch. “Supergirl, are you sure you’re alright?”
“Yes, but we need to get you out of here,” she says. “Is anyone else still here?”
“No, it’s just me.”
Another explosion. Kara has never felt this powerless as she jumps to her feet, waiting for Lena to follow.
“We can’t go out the front door,” Kara says. “Do you have another way out?”
Lena takes her to an emergency exit at the side of the building that leads out into the street. Kara checks her phone and sends an urgent message to Alex telling her that she’s blown out her powers, and then finally surveys the scene before her and says,
“They’re probably going to try to contain the alien to this area. We can go to my apartment; it’s probably safer.”
"You have an apartment?” Lena looks more shaken all of a sudden, a little more afraid, as another explosion booms in the background.
Kara is so concerned with sending Alex a follow-up text about how she’ll be at her apartment that she says, absentmindedly, “Lena, you’ve been to my—” And she stops. “Oh no.”
Lena freezes. The recognition seems to hit her all at once, and her jaw drops. “Kara?” she says.
“…yes?”
"Oh my God I’m an idiot,” Lena mutters, so quiet Kara almost doesn’t hear her, so crestfallen at this revelation that Kara’s heart hurts.
“Lena—” Kara tries to reach out for her, but Lena stumbles backwards.
“No,” Lena says, and though her voice is firm she looks like she’s about to be sick. “We are going to talk about this, but not right now.” Every emotion Kara feared would come from revealing herself as Supergirl is running through Lena’s eyes—hurt, confusion, even fear.
“I was going to tell you,” Kara says. “Soon. I just didn't—”
Lena shakes her head, already walking away. “You’re hurt,” she says, ignoring Kara’s weak explanation. “Come on. I’ll drive you to the hospital.”
“Lena,” Kara tries, scrambling after her to keep up. “I—I should probably just go find Alex.”
“Then I’ll drive you to where she is,” Lena says, and she turns to look at Kara. This time, there’s nothing but quiet worry in her eyes, teeth worrying her bottom lip. She’s still willing to do whatever she can for Supergirl. For Kara. “Let me help you this time. Okay?”
Kara’s heart races again, but this time for a different reason, and all she can do is agree.
