Ew, That Is So Sappy, I Might Vomit
Prompt 19: “Ew, that is so sappy, I might vomit”
Warnings: None
Note: I used one of my favorite movie scenes in terms of sappy for this, but I think it’s a cute little moment. Also, not sure why I’m feeling so Prinxiety tonight, but oh well.
Virgil came down the stairs to get a glass of water before bed. Uncharacteristically, he was going to go to bed at a normal hour for once, or at least that was the intention. He had been keeping Thomas up late so much recently, that while he enjoyed spending time with the internet sensation, he was starting to feel a bit guilty about it and deemed a night off needed.
The other three were in the living room, watching another movie. They had invited Virgil to join them, as always, but when he found out it was Rom Com night, he bowed out. No need to watch that nonsense.
He was surprised that the movie they settled on specifically was Enchanted. In the end, he shouldn’t have been too surprised; it was the most fitting to the three personality types that were watching it. Robert’s refusal to accept the fairytale idea was very much of a Logan mentality, Patton taking the idealistic nature of Giselle to heart. And come on, there is literally a prince running around Times Square and a dragon that they fight; could anything be more Roman than that?
After getting a glass of water, Virgil stopped by to see where they were in the movie. Robert approached the dazzling Giselle, both dressed like royalty from the other’s home, as the music started to play. He offers her his hand, “Shall we?”
She takes it, shyly, gracefully. He leads her to the middle of the dance floor where they start to dance, slowly, looking into one another’s eyes. They move seamlessly with the rest of the guests on the floor, weaving their way back and forth as their eyes never stray from one another. Virgil gets swept up into it, his mind running away with dreams of the situation. He, dancing in the ballroom, wrapped up in the arms of the one he longs for though, but couldn’t have.
Robert starts singing along with the music as he pulls Giselle into his arms, tenderly keeping her close. Virgil’s mind replaces Robert with his own Prince, sighing at the idea of the two of them having a moment together, where it was just the two of them much like it was in the movie.
The moment is interrupted as Nancy says, “Mind if I cut in?”
Roman and Patton both let out a sigh, sad to see the moment ruined for the duo on screen.
Virgil shook his head, coming back to reality. “Ew, that is so sappy. I might vomit,” Virgil says as he remembers himself. He wasn’t supposed to be romantic. He wasn’t supposed to want his friend that way. Things were fine.
“Oh Virgil,” Patton laughed. “You know you like it.”
“Nah, this is why I like Black Cauldron. No sappy puppy eyes in that movie.”
“Well, the pig in it sure has puppy eyes,” Roman quipped. “Now hush, we’re just getting to the best part.”
Virgil sighed, shaking the last of the dream from his mind. He went to head up the stairs before he was interrupted with Roman asking, “Are you sure you don’t want to join us?”
Virgil froze, unsure of what to say. I mean, yeah this wasn’t his type of movie. But if it meant that much to Roman….
“Yeah, okay. Just for the end.”
