Grace and Frankie (observed)?

Sure! “Grace and Frankie (Observed)” is a fic I started writing while feeling a bit vindictive about how much I did not enjoy the first four episodes of season 7. It picks up not long after 7x4 leaves off, and involves a fake holiday because I did really that “I’d make up a fake holiday for you” moment between G&F.

I am still going to try to finish this fic before the rest of the final season episodes drop on April 29!

Here’s the first sentence:

“You know, ladies, this house is starting to feel like a prison,” Nick says, and immediately cracks up.

Character questionnaire : What is the most important question to answer about your characters?

honestly, for me, the trick is to figure out what motivates them. not just what do they want but why do they want it. like, in where i’m going now, brenda figures out what she wants like 15 chapters before she really figures out why she wants it. like she knows in the first chapter she wants sharon but literally spends the whole rest of the fic puzzling out why that is. in fact, it’s less important to the character than it is to me as the writer and the audience as readers. brenda is perfectly content being strangely attracted to a woman she doesn’t even like and never asking why until her friendship with said woman literally forces her to, but that’s unsatisfying for us to read/write.

Headcanons 10, 11, and 12 for Sharon Raydor, if you would please!

10. Fears/phobias: She doesn't like the water. Pools are fine but she's really not into open water of any sort - she knows when she's not in control and she doesn't like it. It's also not really a phobia but she's very obsessive about mouth hygiene and gets antsy if she doesn't get to floss/brush/rinse on her set schedule.

11. Bad or petty habits: Queen of Passive Aggressive. She drives people crazy with her insistence on correcting them - it's well intentioned (usually), but she always calls out poor grammar and word choice, etc., even when it's inappropriate. It's been awhile but she used to sneak cigarettes and still keeps a pack stashed away. She's kind of a snob about clothes and accessories, and puts too much emphasis on brands. Every now and then she'll let off steam by leaving lengthy anonymous comments in response to trolls in which she systematically destroys them, even though she knows they won't really care. 

12. Grudges and vendettas: She's never quite forgiven Jack. When Will Pope's term is up, she goes above and beyond to make sure that he isn't reappointed. Peter Goldman becomes skittish whenever he hears her name. She had a teacher suspended when Ricky was in fifth grade for sexist comments. She harbors a deep, deep loathing towards anyone who voted third-party in the 2016 election. She is unfailingly polite to Fritz Howard yet he somehow leaves every conversation with her feeling like he's two inches tall.

S: Any fandom tropes you can't resist?

oh boy oh boy so many!

fake married, fake dating, bed sharing, having to share a house/cabin/other restricted living space for a period of time. Anything that involves a lot of pining and other people thinking you’re together is a++ imo. Most fandoms I enjoy AUs of all sorts. Also I really enjoy soul bond, and soulmate fics when they’re done right.

V: A secondary (or underrated) character you want to see more of in fic?

I always want to see more of Raf and Fletch in Holby fic and I generally like a lot of the squad around in Brenda/Sharon fic. Anything where there’s a good team dynamic (eg Stargate) I want a lot of the team/fam interacting even if I’m reading for a specific ship.

W: Do you like more general prompts, or more specific ones?

Oh man... I’m bad at writing off of prompts (by which I mean I never do it) but I usually want something more general but if there’s a specific moment that the prompter wants to see I like to know about it
