[ Naruto Shippuden Episode 5 - "The Kazekage Stands Tall" ]
"Sakura, I leave Naruto in your hands. He's always been our villages symbol of hope."
Sakura; What are you doing?
Naruto; thinking.
Sakura; You, thinking? Well, now I’m really getting worried.
Naruto; shut up!
i may not know much about anime but its pretty clear to me that sakura and naruto are just two bi’s who fell for the same femboy
Something about the way that you walked into my living room
Casually and confident lookin' at the mess I am
But still you, still you want me
Oh, I always let you down
You're shattered on the ground
But still I find you there
Next to me
And oh, stupid things I do
I'm far from good, it's true
But still I find you
Next to me (next to me)
There's something about the way that you always see the pretty view
Overlook the blooded mess, always lookin' effortless
And still you, still you want me
I got no innocence, faith ain't no privilege
I am a deck of cards, vice or a game of hearts
And still you, still you want me
So thank you for taking a chance on me
I know it isn't easy
But I hope to be worth it

Constructive Criticism: An Anti-NaruHina rant
Disclaimer: I am not a critic. This is a criticism from a non-professional’s perspective as a long time fan of the anime/manga Naruto.
I’m very aware of the fact that Naruhina has been spoken on the topic has been covered by various fans over the years since the shows inception. While I’m anti-naruhina I have no real contempt for Hinata as a character or really even the pairing. I just do not see the two of them as very compatable. I am going to go over why in this rant. I have yet to really speak about what I think of this since it happened and now that I’ve started watching the Boruto series I feel the need to say so now.
Many people readily accpeted NaruHina as the “right” pair simply because it happened. Many don’t even stop to consider why the two are a couple and simply assume its the way its supposed to because it is. My philosophy in life is that just because something is doesn’t mean that is the way it is supposed to be.
I swear that I’ve been here and spoken on this before, but for the hell of it I’m going to continue to write. In the beginning of the series Naruto doesn’t know it, but apparently Hinata his been his admirer for quite some time. She follows him everywhere. She sees him train, she sees him fail, she sees him grow. What fans seem to misunderstand that from a real life perspective, watching someone the way she watches Naruto throughout the series would be considered stalking. But of course this is a Shonen anime so I’ll, give her a pass for this one.
Instead lets look at the emotional attachment between the two and how they relate as they “got to know each other”, if you can even call it that. During all these years, as I mentioned before, Naruto has no clue she’s even there. The first thing Naruto mentions about her?....She’s some “weird” girl who was in his class. They were the rookie 9 and she just happened to be one of them. Naruto did not express any fondness of her, he didn’t express any endearing qualities and fact he practically insults her because in his own words she was “weird”. Not quirky weird but weird as in, that’s the only word he could find to describe her because he knew nothing about her.
Creepy stalker vibes are starting to return. So he didn’t know her for years as they went to the academy together. He spent a long time feeling lonely and deprived of love and Hinata sat and watched the entire thing like a movie. Not that she simply noticed him as she passed him and never said anything like Shikamaru but she chose to stay safe because she couldn’t work up the courage to offer him the one thing he wanted most...companionship, love, respect, thos kind of things.
throughout the entirety of part I we never really see Naruto show anything that coud be considered love. There’s one scene where....maybe if you’re a fan of the pair you watch and say “That’s it! That’s it!” but wait, apply logic there. Naruto’s “Vow to win!” was not about his romantic feelings for Hinata. Remember, he didn’t even know her. He sat next to during the first exam and before that noticed only knew she was weird. He knew her about as well as he knew Lee.
Lee is very relevant, because his reaction to lease Loss was about the same. he vowed to defeat Neji after watching someone who “wanted respect” fight hard and lose the battle, another underdog, another “loser” like him. He felt that way maybe because he’s been in her position before, not because he was oh so in love after watching her fight once. Of course with rose tinted goggles it’s easy to say that that was “love” speaking, and not his resolve to become a great shinobi. That is not to discredit any fans of the pair saying they have reasonable logic for why the two are a good romantic pair, but my honest objective observation as a fan disappointed with the way the story ended. As a writer who would like to aspire to not get caught up in something and make the same mistake.
So, after that “vow to win” what happens. Naruto speaks to Hinata once more and that is literally the last time they speak for the entirety of Part I. They have two legitimate conversations in Part I. Everything else is just filler to make the two seem closer than what they are. How many actual interations with a person make you fall in love? Some believe in love at first sight, but if thats the case wouldn’t two people become inseparable? If it was true love and Naruto felt that way, why did he call her “weird” and why didn’t he talk to her anymore? If Kishi intended this right from the start why didn’t he give them any development until way after the series had already ended in Japan?
Part II The minute Naruto sees Hinata after 2 and a half years has passed the first thing she does is feint correct. I know, I know, this is a cliche anti-naruhina statement but please remember that love doesn’t work that way. That isn’t something someone with deep understanding of a person with legitiment selfless romantic love does in front of the man she has those feelings for who she hasn’t seen in years. That is something a fan of some big celebrity does when they finally meet them in person. What Hinata feels for Naruto is not love, it is infatuation. Much like Sakura’s feelings for Sasuke, though I’ll be the first to admit SasuSaku had much more development that was much more sincere only by comparison to NaruHina.
Hinata never even got to truly know Naruto. Everything she knows about Naruto is through watching him train and following him around without his consent. By the end of the series it’s evident Kishi didn’t think a single thing through before he decided to match them together and call them canon. I haven’t even begun to discuss Naruto’s feelings for another person so let me just save that for when I edit this post.
Edit: See I’ve come this far and still not really don’t with what I have to say about these to. The series has grown and developed so much from the time that I was 12 since now that I’m 26 years old and still there’s been about as much Romantic development between Hinata and Naruto as there’s been with me and my Celebrity crush.
So in order to create some sort of random romantic attachment between Naruto and Hinata a poorly flawed movie had to be made just to make them interract enough for Naruto to seem like he had romantic feelings for her. Without it their relationship feels even more forced, if that’s even possible.
I haven’t even begun to talk about the relationship between Naruto and Sakura. How many years did Naruto chase after Sakura? It was no secret that he had feelings for that girl, and it was explained away in the sentence of a bad movie.
I need to take out part of this post to Naruto and Sakura. In the “Last” movie it is explained by Sakura via “best friend” logic, that the only reason he had feelings for Sakura is because he wanted to compete with Sasuke. Keep in mind this is an animated movie that was not even written by Kishi. It wasn’t his vision, not really but the producers’ vision.
Go back to early chapters of Naruto the manga series we see what it is. Naruto’s psyche speaks not Sakura speaking for him. He asks Sakura why she is so infatuated with Sasuke (If you read my post on Pro-Sasuke, you understand what I feel about SasuSaku.) Sakura says to Naruto disguised as Sasuke that she wants acceptance. Something Naruto understood perfectly because he never got it from the village. Something he in his own words said “Now I understand why I like Sakura so much”
You can’t just unwrite something like that. Naruto and Sakura actually spent time together, they got to know each other. They’d been through life and death situations together, they’d shared the same heartache when it came to Sasuke. They know each other better than anyone else. But for the sake of keeping a fauxmance alive Kishi decided Saskura gets her prize and Hinata gets hers. It really doesn’t feel right.
This is also to say that Naruto had feelings for Sakura before hand, at what point did Naruto know that Sakura had feelings for Sasuke, when that isn’t even something and she made known until just before the aforementioned chapter just before Naruto accidently kisses Sasuke.
Moving on. The last movie was only even done for the sake of NaruHina. And the major plothole implys 1. That Naruto is required to suddenly start loving her because he’s aware of the feelings Hinata had for him that he couldn’t even see in the first place and 2. That he saw those feelings for her because he was caught in a genjutsu he couldnt possibly be caught in because of Kurama. Anyone remember when Sasuke used the most powerful genjutsu, tsukuyomi on Killer Bee? What happened? He was nearly killed by a Lariat because one of the most powerful genjutsu users failed to trap a jinchuriki in one of the most powerful illusions because he’s immune.
Naruto perfected that skill. Kurama protects him from that and Naruto’s “discovery” of his “feelings” for Hinata are a simulation. What’s left after this. Idk about The Last after that because I lost interest in the movie.
What is left is two children spawned from their fauxmance. There relationship makes as about as much sense to me as Sasuke becoming Hokage instead of Naruto at the end of the series. It’s the very same feeling for me, you know that it was a statement made, that it was a possiblity but the feeling we got as that Naruto was the story we were rooting for to come out on top. The other pairing seemed to me to just be there to serve to generate interest, will they or wont they is a question need be asked but because shonen writers are bad at romance it turns out all screwed up by the end.
Since then at least SasuSaku has had some development since Boruto began. Funny considering Sasuke hasn’t been around at all in up until late. But for Sasuke and Sakura to not be extremely romantic makes since as Sasuke is a character that doesn’t show his emotions much. Naruto and Hinata both are.
It makes plenty sense that Hinata loves Naruto but what about Naruto with her? Why’d they get married and have kids. So many unanswered questions why is it the person who wanted nothing more to have family and friends has a family that he comepletely neglets? The hokage excuse really is not a good one either as Hiruzen had at least two children and a grandson that he had good relationship as far as the series depicted. Yet Boruto resents Naruto.
Naruto hasn’t had one training session with him father to son. He’s given him next to no advice. Just wished him luck once before the chunin exams. As well as barely cheering him on. There’s so much that goes on in this series and while I love the fact we got an entire story arc about the Uchiha family and Sarada’s childhood without Sasuke and Sasuke as a father.
If Kishi hopes to salvage this he seriously needs to devote time to developing the relationship between the uzumakis and stop pushing this deadbeat dead thing just to create conflict or inner turmoil for Boruto
Warning, long post but I put way to much into this
Once I was seven years old
my mama told me
"Go make yourself some friends-
“- or you’ll be lonely”
Once I was seven years old...It was a big big world, but we thought we were bigger
Pushing each other to the limits, we were learning quicker
Never rich so we were out to make that steady figure
Once I was eleven years old, my daddy told me
"Go get yourself a wife or you'll be lonely"
Once I was eleven years old
I always had that dream, like my daddy before me
So I started writing songs, I started writing stories
Something about that glory just always seemed to bore me, 'Cause only those I really love will ever really know me
Once I was twenty years old, my story got told
Before the morning sun, when life was lonely
Once I was twenty years old
I only see my goals, I don't believe in failure
'Cause I know the smallest voices,
they can make it major
I got my boys with me
at least those in favor
And if we don't meet before I leave,
I hope I’ll see you later
Once I was twenty years old, my story got told, I was writing 'bout everything I saw before me, Once I was twenty years old
Soon we'll be thirty years old, our songs have been sold, We've traveled around the world and we're still roaming
Soon we'll be thirty years old
I'm still learning about life, My woman brought children for me
So I can sing them all my songs,
And I can tell them stories
Most of my boys are with me
Some are still out seeking glory
And some I had to leave behind, My brother, I'm still sorry
Soon I'll be sixty years old, my daddy got sixty-one
Remember life,
and then your life becomes a better one
I made a man so happy when I wrote a letter once
I hope my children come and visit once or twice a month
Soon I'll be sixty years old,
will I think the world is cold
Or will I have a lot of children who can warm me?
Soon I'll be sixty years old
Once I was seven years old, my mama told me
Go make yourself some friends or you'll be lonely"
Once I was seven years old
