Hiya Waffs!
Let’s see...many Modern Glasgow ficlets are inspired by things I’ve experienced in real life - or things my friends and family have experienced.
The first MG ficlet I ever wrote, where Jamie and Claire go to a loud club and have an argument? Inspired by a time I went out clubbing and had a terrible, awful, no good time and got into an argument with some random dude who didn’t get that I was *definitely* not interested in him.
The story where Jamie shares his disbelief that one of his friends could just walk away from his family? Inspired by my former neighbor, who last year literally walked away from his wife and baby daughter because he couldn’t cope with the responsibility of it all.
And other ficlets are inspired by events in canon - just re-interpreted for this AU.
Jamie’s car accident, leading to the scars on his back.
Jamie and Claire visit Jared in Paris - and are introduced to Fergus, an orphan that Jared has taken under his wing.
Jamie works in the printing business; Claire is a thoracic surgeon.
Jamie and Claire struggle to conceive a child - so they visit Dr. Joe Abernathy and receive fertility treatments.
Faith is born premature, with complications - but with modern medicine, she survives.
Jamie and Claire get their initials tattooed on the insides of their thumbs - rather than cut it into each other, like in canon.
And finally, because I love happy endings and silliness -
Murtagh marries Suzette, and they have a happily ever after.
Rupert marries Scarlett (who may or may not have been an exotic dancer) and has so many bairns with her, that nobody can keep track.
Jamie catches Brianna and Roger in an intimate moment.
In a nutshell, this is the AU where everyone is alive and well, and everyone is a wee bit silly, and everyone gets the happy ending that they deserve.
