Sattu Paratha | Flat bread Stuffed with Spices & Roasted Chana Dal Flour

Sattu Paratha is a Flatbread stuffed with dry roasted chana dal powder, onions, and Indian spices. Dry roasted chana dal powder is known as sattu and is very famous and used extensively in Eastern States of India. Sattu Paratha is very delicious. It can be served in breakfast, lunch or in dinner. Sattu Paratha goes well with Pickle, Yogurt, Sauce or any Chutney.
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Yield: 4 servings ( 8-10 Parathas)
Ingredients:
For Stuffing:-
Sattu flour ~ 1+1/4 cup
Garlic ~ 6-7 cloves
Ginger ~ 2 tsp
Onion ~ 2, medium
Green chillies ~ 2
Red chili powder ~ 1/4 tsp
Ajwain/ carom seeds ~ 1/4 tsp
Kalonji/ nigella seeds ~ 1/4 tsp
Lemon juice ~ 2-3 tsp
Amchur powder/ dry mango powder ~ 1 tsp
Coriander leaves ~ 2 Tbsp
Mustard oil ~ 2 Tbsp
Water ~ 1 tsp
Salt to taste
For Dough:-
Atta/ whole wheat flour ~ 2 cups
Refined oil or ghee ~ 2 Tbsp
Salt ~ 1/2 tsp
Water ~ as required
How to Prepare:
Knead the whole wheat flour with salt, oil/ ghee, and required amount of water into a soft dough. Keep it aside.
Finely chop onions, garlic, green chilies, and coriander leaves. Grate the ginger.
In a bowl, mix all the ingredients listed under "for stuffing".
Divide the dough into small portions and make it into round shape.
Apply some oil on the inner side of the cup shaped dough.
Place a portion of the sattu mixture (approx 2 tsp) in the middle, enfold the filling and pinch off the excess dough.
Then, roll out the paratha.
Place it on a hot tava, place a rolled-out paratha on the pan and cook over medium flame. When tiny bubbles starts to rise on the surface flip it and reduce flame to low.
Spread 1/2 teaspoon oil around its edge with the help of spatula and cook for approx 30-40 seconds.
Flip it again and spread 1/2 teaspoon oil around its edge. Press it with spatula and cook for 30-40 seconds over medium flame.
Cook till it become golden brown in color.
Serve hot with Pickle, Yogurt, Chutney or Sauce.
