@stthomaspubliclibrary This is a diverse collection of works by seventeen young authors who span the gay alphabet, from L to Q. The stories are set in several countries around the world, dating from the late 1300’s through to 1999. At a glance, this may appear to simply be historical fiction. But the thing about historical fiction is, to be fully immersed in the experience you want to believe the story maybe, sort of, could have happened. And in the case of these 17 works, I prefer to imagine they are the LGBTQ+ pages that were ripped out of our history books, now lovingly restored. Many of the characters featured are based on real people, reinforcing the feeling that the authors aren’t making up history, but rather filling in the gaps where LGBTQ+ voices may have been silenced. And I’d add these authors are also making some history just by by telling these stories. One of the cool things that our Library does in their catalogue, is to add hashtags and keywords to link readers to similar titles. In the case of All Out, the hashtag #diversereads will lead you to many other great books. -Neil PS – Be sure the read the authors notes - they provide some nice insight to their process. #allout #saundramitchell #lgbtq #ownvoices #sttont #stthomaspubliclibrary #ldnont #stpl #stthomasproud #librariesofinstagram #books #instabooks #bookish #bookblogger #bookstagramfeatures #reading #bookstagram #bookaddict #bibliophile #ya #amreading #explorerailwaycity (at St. Thomas Public Library) https://www.instagram.com/p/BvhmanMnl7i/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=9vjraqg65nxc
