Sachi the Rescue Bunny Needs Your Help!
https://www.gofundme.com/surgery-for-sachi-the-rescue-bunny
@saunterleftside and I found this adorable bunny by the side of the road. He's a complete sweetheart, super tame, and very much a lost pet. He’s got a horrific, infected wound with exposed bone on his hind foot. We figured we’d find his owners, get him home where he belonged, and that was that.
We were so wrong.
When we finally tracked them down, we found out his previous owners had simply turned him loose outside several months ago when they decided they didn't want him as a house rabbit anymore. Why? Because he chewed things. Don’t get me started on how angry I am about this. Bunnies chew things, it’s what they do. Releasing a white domestic rabbit into coyote territory is animal cruelty. Releasing any domestic rabbit into the wild is wrong for dozens of reasons. This poor bunny has been suffering for weeks, and may yet die, from an injury that would have been easily treated if he’d had proper care. I’m seething.
He’s only two years old, and he is the nicest bunny. We want to give him a chance. The previous owners have officially surrendered him to us. But this bun needs $1500 in surgery if he’s going to even survive. We decided we'd try a gofundme campaign, because $1500+ is a big expense, and we just can’t afford it. We’ll try to get the vet to let us finance it, but it’s going to be hard to swing even if they do.
If you can help, either by donating or by sharing his story, we'd be so grateful.

Writing Night is going swimmingly.
Anybody want to draw fanart of the Bounce House of Suffering?
Writers: do you guys prefer to write mission threads or downtime / day-in-the-life threads?
DK: Honestly, I adore both. Missions are exciting, logistically complex, plot heavy and traumatic and/or fun. (Plus, fight scenes.) Downtime/day-in-the-life/aftermath threads are usually less structured, so there’s more room to play and meander, and we get to find some of the most interesting character gems. (Plus, hurt/comfort.)
Nezu: I agree with everything DK said. It can be a sort of grass-is-greener thing, I think. When I’m writing a mission thread, as we get to about the ⅔ point, I start thinking longingly of aftermath/downtime threads and after we’ve done several rounds of those, I yearn for the excitement of a mission thread.
Ki: When I say “SAME” you’ll probably understand why we have such an even mix of long missions and multiple downtime chapters. The nice thing about missions is that they are structured: we know the geographic and plot points we need to hit, so if things feel too meandering we can ruthlessly strip it out and tighten it up. Also, we get to invent all sorts of cool places and gross things. (Especially the gross things).
But I am a sucker for the emotional moments, the long dialogues, the quiet sitting-on-a-rooftop-drinking-beer-after-rain images. I figure the action-packed missions are the price we pay to earn them.
Fallen Leaves Archive
Happy New Years, writers of Legacy and fans alike! For a while, I’ve been working on archiving all of the threads of Fallen Leaves into one Google Drive for easy access, and I thought I would share.
The link to the drive is here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B8wQwqZhol-gMm9tME5GYUEtSkE
Enjoy!
This is so cool. And what an immense labor of love. There’s no better way to finish 2017 than by looking back on how far we’ve come.
We’re so glad you’ve come on this ride with us.

For the writers: what's a secret plotline or idea you've always wanted to do but have never gotten the chance?
Ki: Honestly, I've always wanted to write Ryouma on a Bad Decision Night. (I feel terrible about it. But I want to write it anyway!) However, it would require either 1) a flashback, or 2) something to be broken enough with Team Six that Ryouma doesn't go to his team or his friends for emotional support. Or feels like he isn't worthy of their support. Which, to be fair, is still a distinct possibility in his future… (Maybe Sato Ken will get his chance after all!)
Nezu: Hmm… I don’t know that I have plots so much as scenes around which I’d have to build a plot. Maybe going undercover and deliberately getting captured in order to infiltrate another Hidden Village’s prison, followed by (of course) trauma and torture, and having to escape. And I want to do something in a factory or industrial setting. I did that in Leaves with Ginta, so I don’t know if that counts as never having had the chance, but we haven’t done it in Legacy. Also I have had this tiny scene in my head forever with a group of civilian children, one of whom says to the others, “I found a dead ninja in the woods!” and leads the others to see the ‘corpse’ who turns out to be alive, just gravely injured. And then I don’t know what happens next. Like I said, I need to think of plots to justify these scenes.
DK: I’ve always wanted to write Kakashi Losing His Shit. Brakes off, world-burning, rip throats out, destroy everything that gets in his way madness. :D
Either DK or Kakashi can answer this one: how did Kakashi's long and fulfilling love affair with Icha Icha first start?
DK: Jiraiya gave him the first volume just after Obito died. A week previous, Kakashi would have tossed it into a bush and never thought about it again, but after Kannabi Bridge, with Obito's ashes buried and his new eye burning like a coal, he clutched any distraction going.
And then the story turned out to be interesting, and funny, and sweet, and sexy. And the heroes always win.
