A Day of Mud, Sweat, and Savage Spirit
On October 11, 2025, hundreds of athletes from across Texas gathered at Beaumont Ranch in Grandview, TX - just south of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex - to face one of the most intense and rewarding obstacle course races in the nation: the Savage Race Dallas 2025. The event brought together elite athletes, weekend warriors, and first-time participants, all chasing one goal - to conquer the course and earn that coveted Savage Syndicate medal.
From knee-deep mud to ice-cold water pits, rope climbs, and the legendary “Colossus” wall, competitors battled through Texas heat and unpredictable terrain, testing both physical endurance and mental grit.
A Brief History of Savage Race
The Savage Race was founded in 2011 in Florida, created by two college friends, Sam Abbitt and Lloyd Parker, who wanted to build an obstacle race series that was both challenging and community-driven. The first-ever Savage Race took place in Dade City, Florida, and quickly gained popularity for its balance of extreme obstacles, festival-like atmosphere, and inclusivity for all fitness levels.
Over the past decade, Savage Race has expanded to multiple states across the U.S., including Texas, Florida, Maryland, Georgia, and Pennsylvania, becoming one of the top obstacle course racing (OCR) brands alongside Spartan and Tough Mudder.
What makes Savage Race unique is its signature obstacles - like “Wheel World,” “Sawtooth,” “Shriveled Richard,” and “Colossus” - which are designed to challenge strength, balance, grip, and courage all at once.
