look at this article. this figure is taken directly from it.
@netflix , mourn your reputation.
1. Your viewers do not trust you. 2. Not every show you make will explode. 3. Viewership doesn't have to correlate with subscriptions. 4. You have decided you want no more profit out of these shows. If another studio wants the rights, hand them over.
Do you remember when you were the safe place for shows being cancelled? The fans would think "Oh thank god, Netflix will pick it up. We trust them to do it well." How do you feel now? Are you proud of yourselves? Let's get to 50. 26 isn't enough. Have you not got enough to meet your metrics again? Your metrics are a monkey on cocaine. Trust the outcry. Maybe then, your viewers would trust you.
For the five people who'll probably be interested, I've started a new Maura x Eyk fic on Ao3. It's been half written for about a year, but it's wrestled it's way out of me.
I think it's the crumbs we've been fed over the last few days...

honestly netflix just keep shooting themselves in the foot. they can’t keep making shows and then cancelling them. i don’t even wanna watch netflix original shows anymore because I don’t want to emotionally invest in a show netflix doesn’t give a shit about and will cancel immediately anyway. they never let any show have a proper story and a proper ending. why should we care about netflix when they don’t care about the audience nor the show creators
I know it’s been months since the cancellation but I still wake up in the dead of night thinking about 1899 and I just-
1899 premiered on Netflix one year ago today and even though I’m still completely utterly devastated over the unrightfull cancellation I’m just so thankful this show got to exist in the first place. I’m so thankful that it got what it got even though it deserves more🥲
And I truly can’t recommend it enough! 1899 is captivating and thought provoking, with a plot that runs so deep and characters that are far more than what you see on the surface. It truly truly is worth the watch and will keep you guessing till the very end (and beyond because yk Netflix is shit)
So please if you haven’t yet GIVE IT A WATCH! You won’t regret it
ur point is extremely valid but if a platform has shown you multiple times then have you considered just not giving Netflix ur money and looking for other streaming services? its worth giving it a shot…
i definitely have, and i rarely use streaming services. most of the shows i stream are actually on hbo max, because i get that for free through a loophole. i've gotten other services occasionally for like 1 month at a time in the past, but only when something exclusive showed up that i couldn't access through other channels.
also, pirating works wonders if you’re not concerned about the prospects of a show’s renewal.
Have you ever lost someone?
