For a Selfie revival, the following might need to happen first (not necessarily in this order):
The original show needs to be on an official streaming platforms to gain interest
Have the original creator, Emily Kapnek come back
A script written for the revival
The revival might need to the change name, but will most fans connect the the new name with the original show? But at the same time, it needs a unique name for better searches or SEO
Have the original actors come back (most of the main cast have said they would)
Clear the original actors’ schedules and negotiate contracts
Have the revival project green-lit
But major decisions still have to go through Warner Brothers for approval. Or at least have them sell the rights/license so someone else can make it. From what I read for the Veronica Mars movie, they still needed permission from Warner Bros to create a Kickstarter for their movie (it also helped that Veronica Mars had 4 seasons and with a large fanbase).
I don’t know if it’s even possible to have a reunion talk or table read of some sort before then. Even other 1-2 season shows seem to achieve that.
And after a revival movie or limited series is made, will there be enough funds for marketing? Also, what can fans do to spread the word?
I know Emily Kapnek is currently working with Karen Gillan again on a Disney+ musical animation and might be busy with other projects. I would like to think they talk about Selfie memories or how fans still mention the show lol.
Or maybe Karen Gillan and John Cho could work on a different project together in the future. Just wishful thinking.
