According to TMZ, rap star Nelly, also know as Cornell Haynes Jr., has been hit with a federal tax lien that is topping off at over $2 million. His most memorable songs, such as “Hot in Herre” and Ride With Me” are said the be what caused him to be in such a financial troubles
Immediately after finding out, Spins writer Brian Joseph proposed that fans would collectively need to stream “Hot in Herre” at least 287,176,547 times to help the rapper pay out his dept. This resulted in the Twitter campaign, #SaveNelly, which shows the lengths his fans are willing to go. Since the campaign has started, Spotify has told TIME that the listening hours of Nelly’s songs has Tripled compared to the past week.
