I’m finding it hard to sleep and sometimes breath these days with the disgust and absolute disbelief I have about the apathy the human species has towards all other species, the world we live in and most especially our own species. The cruelty and lack of empathy shown to the poor, weak and vulnerable in our society is nothing short of evil. The disrespect for nature and the future of this world is unbelievable. We are on a rollercoaster that is going to be derailed and it feels like no one who actually has power will do anything about it, in fact they seem to be quite happy about it all. So many questions go ignored or unanswered or when answered they are with disdain and indifference to the pain the actions being questioned cause. I cry myself to sleep regularly because I cannot understand the why behind the actions, how can any action justify cruelty and infliction of pain on any other being? How do people distance themselves from the death, destruction, maiming and neglect. I often wake up in horror at the dreams within my head and the guilt I feel for my inaction is crippling. I’m not sure what I can do to change this world. All I have is words and love but without power and material wealth behind them what good are they? Those that have the most and those that can do the most refuse to listen, refuse to change, refuse to make the major difference they can in this world and why? For greed, belongings, fun, power over others? None of that will go with them to the grave. The Pharaohs tried that tactic and their bones are lifeless now and their treasures distributed through the world as material wonders to admire. We are here for such a short while, an insignificant nanosecond of the world’s whole existence and while we may have created wonders mostly we have just destroyed the beauty that was here before we arrived. It is hard not to consider that perhaps humans are a plague upon this earth.
I’m so conflicted between my absolute disgust at the actions of our species and awe at the beauty of our children and their minds full of wild imagination and possibilities. How do such creatures full of wonder and connection to the world around them change so drastically to become the adults that are disconnected, indifferent and cruel? Where have we all gone wrong? We have to change before it is too late, many think it is already but defeat is not within my vocabulary and should be erased from the minds of all good people wanting to reverse the madness we’ve created and to restore the balance in this world. There are so many good and caring people in this world, we meet them every day in every walk of life, encourage them to work towards a better life for our children and our Mother Earth. The evil, greedy, indifferent and apathetic will still continue as they do. In order to stop this crazed madness, for that is what it is, the gentle, loving, caring and wise must step up and take control. Step out of your comfort zone, gather your tribes together to fix this mess we helped create by staying silent, by watching woefully and helplessly, there is no time for shyness, resignation or paralysing grief. We have to be the ones to change our future. Use your beautiful minds and wonder at the world, use your boundless love for nature and humanity and be the world we want to become. Unite as those who have destroyed stand united as a wall. Unite and break down that wall to restore and repair the wounds within the world. For too long humans have raped and pillaged the soul from the core of our Mother Earth, for too long humans have cruelly ripped babies from mothers arms, for too long humans have brought destruction, hunger, fear and hatred everywhere they roamed. We do not own this planet, we live on her, if anyone owns anyone, she owns us and if we continue being parasites she will find a permanent cure for the human problem. Nature is more resilient and self regulating than we will ever be. We need to remember that being the top of the food chain, the dominant species does not mean we have the right to ripping the earth apart. Even the majestic terrifying lion only kills to feed his belly, he sits quietly observing the wonder of the world, basking in the glory of the sun for most of his short life. We need to ground ourselves in nature once again, we have removed ourselves too far with our factory farming, mass producing, polluting, rubbish we don’t need, all to keep the fat cats purring while our people starve and die, while we lose another species by the day. We need gentle, resilient, clever, kind and loving leaders now, find them and put them in the positions of power. Be those people. If not you then who? If not now then when? Now IS the time for the gentle to inherit the earth.
