Onigiri, also known as Japanese rice balls, are a popular portable lunch option. They're versatile and can be filled with various ingredients like salmon, tuna, or pickled plum.
Ingredients: 2 cups cooked sushi rice. 2 sheets nori seaweed, cut into strips. Your choice of filling e.g., salmon, tuna, pickled plum, etc.. Salt.
Instructions: Divide the cooked sushi rice into equal portions. With wet hands, take one portion of rice and flatten it in your palm. Place a small amount of your chosen filling in the center of the rice. Fold the rice over the filling, shaping it into a triangle or ball. Wrap the formed rice ball with a strip of nori seaweed. Repeat the process with the remaining rice and filling. Sprinkle a pinch of salt over the finished onigiri. Serve immediately or pack for a portable lunch.
