All of the havoc of Bygone Island was as dangerous as it was routine. Every other week, something would happen. Be it another random Eggman attack, a full scheme, or some random villain of the week, it was all much of the same. Team Sonic would show up, put an end to it, and go back to whatever they were doing before their interruption. Even the townsfolk were desensitized by all the violence.
Life had become boring and predictable. In the midst of it all, there was only one other person who spiced up the routine: Shadow.
Mysterious and unknown, Shadow had been showing himself increasingly frequently to pick fights with Sonic, all the while rambling on and on about the potential Sonic was wasting. Sonic had been shrugging off Shadow's claims as nothing more than the words of a lunatic, but his desperation to fight the boredom of everyday life has him second guessing.
