The temperature is dropping (its just dipping below 16 degrees) and despite having my fancy new wetsuit top on, I got out of the water shaking because there was just so much to see... I guess I did stay in for nearly 1.5hrs however!
The Trumpet Snail was a delight! This is Aotearoa’s largest gastropod and their colours don’t disappoint. This one was around 20 cms long and just gorgeous. There was also a few shaggy Sea Hares, which was the first time I’d spotted them, a large hermit crab living in a luxuriously large Cooks Turban shell, a sleepy Porcupine fish (a big one around 40cms long) and just before I got out.... a gazillion mixed school of Trevally and Jack Mackerel, who found me just as interesting as I found them.
