End Or Beginning (closed)

Fifteen minutes had passed after the mushroom cloud appeared on the horizon. From the science courses he took his freshman year of college, Sigma knew that it’d be at least an hour before it dissipated - and even after it was gone, he didn’t think he would ever get that image out of his memory. Another chunk of the planet, gone, just like that. Although he was too far away from the blast to hear any screams, thankfully, the low wail of sirens outside were the only audible signs of human life outside of this room.
He had peppered Akane with question after question earlier - about how she just tried to kill him, and how he was supposed to accomplish any of the tasks she was giving him, and why the hell his arms were gone. Once the bomb went off, though, he had fallen silent, trying to let the weight of everything sink in.
But, fifteen minutes of silence had gone by, and Sigma was desperate to talk again, especially considering the isolated path that lay ahead. Having run through all of the intelligent questions by now, he may as well ask a dumb one.
“Hey, Akane. If we don’t leave until tomorrow... are there any snacks here? Protein bars? Chips? Something?”
