The benefit of hanging out on college campuses was being able to wander about and hang in classes without people making too much of a fuss. There was often enough individuals auditing, or other students just .. looking any and all kinds of ways that their own presentation while a little unusual didn't cause a second look.
It made it easy for them to relax into enough the lecture. Soon after, they were pleased that someone was willing to take them up on the conversation.
Although, maybe they would have some regrets about that willingness to chat. They started it - so they were going to be open about how it goes.
"Oh damn. I guess some people when they get tenure.. they don't really.. do much with themselves after that. One hates to see it for how difficult it seems to be to get that position in the first place. "
Not to mention the sheer inflated costs that seemed to come with education, that was reason enough for people to be wary about how their time was used.
"I'm glad that you managed to get something out of this week's course then. Are most of the teachers so hard to bear for you then?"
"Hard to bear?" Sigma raised an eyebrow again. He would have shrugged, but that would have meant taking his hands out of his pockets, and he was too cool for that. They stayed right where they were.
"Nah, I can bear 'em. I'm just not impressed. I mean, half the shit we're learning about, even from the good teachers, is gonna be obsolete in ten years anyway, so... I'm just gonna get my degree, get a job, maybe change the world, whatever."
Another smirk. "For real, I don't even know you, and I'd bet twenty bucks you could teach the lecture better than some of these guys. They're just reading from the damn book."
As much as I do love my muses, I'm furry trash at the end of the day and some point in 2025 I'm gonna have to have an active muse that ain't human or smth idk
