Rejection Hurts
I just read this article that explains the science behind why rejection hurts. >Scientist put people into an MRI and asked them to recall a time they were rejected. Get this, the same part of your brain that reacts to physical pain, reacts the same way in response to rejection.
Apparently it goes back to when we were hunters and gathers. Back then if we were rejected it meant we were considered an outcast and probably kicked out of the tribe. Which meant being alone, and being alone meant death.
So it makes perfect sense why we fear being rejected and why it hurts so much when we are.
