Headcanon - "Chemistry Verse”

I am a person who is completely not into A/O/B verse and this is no way related to alphas or omegas, however I thought it would be interesting to explore an AU where some humans went into heats. So, this is my own concept I guess, less animalized and more going through science than ‘fate’ or so. 

The Description:

Type: Physiological process

Purpose: Procreating and finding a lifetime partner

Roots: Heats are caused by a dominating allele (which means if a person inherits a gene combination that has both an allele that causes heats and the allele that doesn’t, the heat allele will be the active one). It is one of the few genes that did not mutate in the process of evolution, even if it became far more rare than in the earlier ages. About a half of the population used to have the heat-causing allele, now only about a little more than a quarter does. Both males and females can inherit the allele, however it is more frequent to males (for only a male who has the allele can bear children while a woman doesn’t have to bear the allele  to procreate). People with the allele are called bearers. Every person who isn’t a bearer, male or female, carries a dormant sensor gene that activates itself when a bearer in heat is close and sends a signal of sexual desire to the brains. 

Cycle: The bearer usually experiances their first heat from early teens to early twenties. For female bearers the first heat usually comes 1-5 years after their first period. A normal heat cycle is counted once a year about mid spring. Less than a year is counted too rare, more than one heat a year - too frequent cycle. Heat coming in other season rather than spring is called Seasonal Syndrome, however it is not counted as an abnormality.

Known other abnormalities:

Fertility Defect - a birth defect that makes heats extremely painful and most likely fatal. more information here.

Biotic Asexuality - a genetic mutation that causes the absence of the sensor gene and a person is unaffected by a bearer in heat.

Biotic Afertility - a genetic mutation of the heat-causing allele being dormant and a bearer not experiancing heats despite carrying the gene.

Ghost Heat Syndrome -  mental disorder that causes a bearer person to feel like they are in heat while they actually aren’t. Suppressed by medication.

Fake Bearer Syndrome - a mental disorder when a person is convinced they are a bearer despite they don’t have the bearer allele. They might even experiance heats, however they will only manifest as mind-caused sexual desire and never result in bonding or pregnancy. Suppressed by medication.

Sympthoms:

Thoughts about intimacy and desire to find a significant other. Might be even slight desire to have children and create a family.

Thoughts about sexual intercourse

Uncontrolled sexual desire. The arousal increases every time a person of opposite (or same, depends on the bearer’s sexuality) gender is close.

How to control:

Suppresants - recommended to take regularly. Mandatory to people of most official professions. Mandatory to underage people. Cheaper choice than hormonal injections, but less effective. Has side effects, most notable one - sudden violent heat instantly after breaking the course that results a pregnancy with three or more offspring.

Hormonal injections - more expensive than suppresants, but more effective, longer lasting and healthier. Mandatory to people with Fertility Defect.

Mating - there are no heats after a bond is formed for the purpose of finding a lifetime partner is complete. If a partner dies, the heats do not renew. 

Aftermath:

After having sex during a heat both partners enter a condition of sleepy bliss, complete relaxation and comfort. It lasts from half a hour to a few hours. It depends on how strong the emotional bond was between the partners before the mating (the stronger, the longer the bliss lasts). When their minds clear, both feel as if their partner is the most beautiful and the most cherished thing in the whole world. It is because electromagnetic signals are sent to the brain through the neurosystem that activate strong chemical reactions. A newly-formed instinct results monogamy by forcing the parts of the brain responsible for emotions like love and sexual desire to code themselves and be activated only by their recognized mate. 90% of sexual intercourses during a heat result in the bearer getting pregnant. 

Important Note:

I know most of my characters are not humans, so for them I will rather use the Soulmate AU than the Chemistry AU. This verse can be used for human AU’s, but I rarely use human AU’s for magical characters, I am not fond of them. However this verse can occur between interspecies when one character is human and other a magical creature.

Asa

this is Asa, hes a scientist who works in the “Care” unit of a lab facility, also known as the “Bleeding Hearts” department. He originally worked with the “Beating Hearts”, aka the department that does experiments, but found he could not stomach the cruelty he saw or inflicted. So! He now works caring for “failed” experiments. however, while he logically knows experimenting is cruel, he wishes he had a way to contribute to the knowledge of mankind and this leaves him conflicted, as he’s been taught experimenting is one of the only ways to help in his field...also he love aika

Ms. Director

this is Ms. Director, who runs the Bleeding Hearts. shes a loving grandma, though she can be strict as well. She’s married to “Mr. Director” who runs the Beating Hearts, but as their jobs are very different, their marriage is a little strained. Still, this connection allows her to obtain failed experiments to care for them, rather than to send them to be dissected.

Assistant Director ( “AD” )

this is the Assistant Director, but everyone calls him AD. He’s very lively and cheery, never really opens his eyes from the “^u^” position so who knows what his eye color is. also he routinely runs into the lab wearing slippers instead of his actual shoes, and everyone is just kinda. used to it. he’s been in the Bleeding Hearts longest besides Ms. Director

A-01 ( “Aika” )

this is aika!! They belong to @servantparent​ and all lore is from them, so I’m paraphrasing a lot of what S has told me. they’re an alien whom the Beating Hearts does experiments on, though most of their time is spent with Asa, who they’re under the care of and grow very close to. they primarily move through their vine-line tendrils, and their hair glows and a lot of other stuff. also they like to echo words like swears and swing around the lab ceiling. not to appreciate my talented friends but S is so talented and creative
