The idea was perfectly mad. Impossible. Dangerous. But such words had never stopped Dr. Lora Baines.

I noticed the other day that all the staircases in the chemistry building on my campus are shaped like a helix or double helix lol
going through old phone vids and i come across a gem like this
I woke up this morning and just remembered
this science documentary from a couple years ago.
We live in an age where we can regrow actual limbs. *nod nod* They have tested what’s called the extracellular matrix [from piggies!] on some soldiers and other individuals who had their limbs amputated. I remember there was an army man who lost his leg from the knee down and a farmer who lost the tip of his finger. Took time of course (~6 months) and the project itself is way too young in its infancy to really get momentum, but still.
The peoples’ bodies were able to regrow their own real, working limbs that seemed to meld just fine with the rest of their body. (x)
I think the debate now is whether research should focus more on robotic enhancements or biological restoration. Personally, in an ideal setting, I would vote for both and letting people choose which they’d like best for themselves.
This makes me so happy.
