Notes on my Ghost Fighters world
Gov. Organization:
Ghosts and Anomalies Association (GAA): These guys take care of all things related to ghosts and the supernatural. Currently being led by Kent Ehara. They have several branches connected to it that take care of different things, such as
-Spiritual Protection Services (SPS): Take care in fighting off rogue spirits. Nicknamed ‘exorcists’.
-Spiritual Releasing Services (SRS): Take care in helping those who have been possessed and can help rogue spirits in passing on by using hypnosis. Some very powerful ones can even hypnotize humans and/or pull a ghost back into its senses (make them sentient again). Nicknamed ‘mediums’.
-Evacuation and Disposal Crew (EDC): Assist in helping evacuate civilians when rogue spirits attack and cleanup after spirit has been destroyed. You have to have been part of the SPS first before you can transfer to this department.
-Anomaly Research Crew (ARC): Specialize in studying the supernatural. Interview possession victims and help rehabilitate them after their traumatic experience. Also study and try to discover new exorcism circles. They are also the ones who create the tech for the SPS.
6th sense: After someone has been possessed, they are marked with the ‘6th sense’, an X on their forehead. They have a very close tie with the spiritual world, able to see ghosts, even if they’re not rogue, and in some cases, can have powers even after being released from the spirit (extremely rare).
‘Rogue Ghosts’: Ghosts who never properly passed on and make that everyone else’s problem. Possess people or cause problems on their own. Not all ghosts who didn’t pass on are rogue, may stick to the shadows and remain unseen. When a ghost goes rogue but not possessing someone, they can become physical, but more gelatinous. Ghosts are no longer sentient, and behave more like a stereotypical zombie.
Aura colors: All rogue spirits have an aura color. Each color represents how strong it is. -Orange: Relatively easy, by far the weakest. -Purple: A little more difficult. Tend to be larger in size and a bit stronger. -Green: From this point, spirits now have enough power to possess a person. -Blue: Can destroy buildings if not contained quickly enough. Powerful enough to break an exorcism circle if given the chance. -Red: Extremely dangerous. Full city evacuations must be carried out. -Pink: By far the rarest and the most dangerous. Said to be capable of speaking, but not anything that makes sense. Just jumbled up words. But, that’s just a rumor.
Exorcist Gear: -Gauntlets: Giant, made of silver and iron. Chalk embedded into the palm and fingertips to create exorcism circles (think that one scene from DanDaDan episode 3 where Momo’s grandma fought Turbo Granny). Pack a mean punch. Very common for exorcists to decorate the gauntlets with stickers or spraypaint. -Boots: Has 3 settings. Normal gravity, extremely heavy, or extremely light. Heavy increases the gravitational pull for the person wearing them, nearly making them an immovable object. Light decreases the gravitational pull, making them quicker and lighter on their feet. -Goggles: Nothing super special. Just protects their eyes.
Types of exorcism circles: (not about exorcism circles; not all of them are used specifically for fighting ghosts. You’ll see what I mean) -Lightning: Electrocutes the ghosts with anti-spiritual lightning -Trapped: Keeps them trapped in one spot. -Wind: Can create huge blasts of wind. Only stop once the chalk has been smudged. Used to push ghosts out of the way without punching it and causing more destruction. -Exorcism: Extremely hard to draw. It’s a combo between several trapped circles and requires the spirit to be at least 2 inches below the surface to work. Exorcists tend to work in pairs because of this. One is tiring out the ghosts and the other is assisting while also trying to punch a hole in the ground to get the spirit into. -Reanimate: Only rumored to exist. Said to put a spirit into the body of someone who has passed on. Unknown if it’s been created, people have tried and been arrested for attempting. Very illegal.

I watched - Aliens - 1986
Okay, so this works so well as a sequel. Like think about what the original gives you to work with.
A lone survivor of an alien, who is gone. There are more eggs for said alien but they're still on LV-426. You can't just do a simple repeat because it would just be a rehash. If you bring in the survivor they know how to fight back so it's not as blind terror.
By letting a colony succumb to the aliens and changing genres to action you gain so much without losing what made Alien so unique. You expand and flesh out the world while showing even more that it's not just faceless corps behind their androids, it's people too that are willing to go to terrible lengths.
I still have Alien3 and Alien: Resurrection to watch. One I'm more excited for than the other, I wonder which.
For the movie itself is great. Amazing action sequences and stakes-upping that makes sense, and great reasons for Ripley to care.

Fuck am I doing like quote of the thing now? Maybe, who the fuck knows what I'm doing with this.
I watched - Prey - 2022
The Predator franchise is weird. I think I've only seen the original and AvP. This is neither of those. AND IT'S SO FUCKING GOOD.
It's paced fantastically. It has great action as well as suspense of the hunted. It's wonderfully acted. It hates colonialism.
It's a great movie.
