two axemen walk into a bar...

Truth be told, if Michalis didn’t want that saddle blanket for Lutz, he wouldn’t have participated at all. The fact that this - student, from the looks of it, had the gall to approach him at all, was both a blessing and a curse.
Rolling his eyes, he silently fished his own paper and signet ring from his breastpocket. “I’ve had enough court engagements for one lifetime,” Michalis grumbled. Just because he didn’t like socializing, didn’t mean that he would have to be difficult about getting what he wanted. Michalis offered both to the man in front of him.
“I am Michalis of Macedon, formerly king. Let’s get this over with…?”
“You and me both,” Hector agreed without missing a beat. “And I’ve barely even started.” He took Michalis’ proffered items and gave his own in return - a simple stamp and signature and... wa-la! He gave, then, a small, appreciative whistle.
“Hoooo... Former royalty, huh?” Why former? Hector was tempted to ask, but bit his tongue (... for once). He could hear the council chiding him already, on and on about manners and etiquette and blah, blah blah. “Well met, Michalis of Macedon. I’m Hector, Marquess of Ostia.” He shrugged and gave a curt nod of his head.
Hm. Y’know what, screw it.
“So how’s one go about getting out of being king and wind up teaching at a place like this, anyway?”
