awkward was something ben had never felt around hailee - yet that seemed to be the only emotion coursing through him as he sat next to her. they were meant to be studying, but the words on the paper in front of him, had long blurred into an unreadable mess. finally giving up, a quiet sigh left him, eyes staying firmly fixed on the paper in front of him. "i'm sorry." the words seemingly coming from nowhere, given she didn't live inside his mind, where he'd been battling the guilt, since the moment he'd learnt his present had caused drama for her. "i didn't mean to make things... harder for you with the gift. i promise, it wasn't any way my intention to cause problems for you."

Did she think he was that kind of man? No, she didn't, not really. But deceptions was part of the world she grew in, people getting close to her only for one thing. "You wouldn't be the first one," she muttered. Caroline had wanted to tell him about her family, she was just too afraid it would change everything between them. Here, she was just someone normal, someone who worked and lived in a very small apartment. She hadn't even really used her family's money since she got here, mostly the one she made working in a small shop. "I didn't mean to hide things from you but I needed to. How did you find out?"

at that point, she was seriously regretting asking hailee to be a model for one of the dress she had to make for class. hailee was gorgeous, and lexi thought she looked beautiful in the dress - the problem was the conversation. especially the last question hailee had posed, one lexi truly didn't want to answer. not when the question had been about being confused about why her boyfriend was upset about ben's present. "i mean... i kind of get why he might be upset?" the words almost cautious, as she focused on fixing the hem of the dress, and looking anywhere but up at the other. "it can't be nice when you try so hard to find the perfect present, and then somebody else blows it out of the water, can it?"

"What do you mean Logan got married?" Of course, he understood what the words meant but it still didn't make sense. No one really knew he was seeing Maggie when they announced they were leaving together and now Celia was saying they were married? "Did he propose and the wedding is coming?"

Following Celia here meant that he needed work and Adrian had been half surprised when Logan agreed to give him a chance on his ranch. The man wasn't a stranger to ranch work, it was what he had been doing before, but the relationship between the two of them had once been tensed. Now, Adrian considered the other one as more than just his brother-in-law, which was strange. "I don't mind picking up some work around if you want to leave earlier to be with your family," Adrian said casually. He didn't want to tell Logan what to do but he knew how much it pained him to not be there as much as he would like. "I can come in even earlier tomorrow if it can help. And bring your sister with me. Maybe you could both sleep in a little."
