i've decided to start fresh on a new blog. i'm going to be extremely selective for now. @kercsene
a wave of relief washes over the man when rather than pull away from him ( or god forbid, leave the room entirely ), she instead settles back in against him. releasing a quiet breath, his arms wrap back around her, drawing the woman as close to his frame as he can manage. "suppose you're right," he murmurs, a soft rumble of laughter escaping to accompany her own. even so, it didn't stop the man from wanting to give her every piece of normalcy he could manage. "just 'cause we've been together for months doesn't mean i know everything about you. things've changed now that we're here. it's not just about staying alive, its about... surviving and thriving, right? so maybe i wanna know what you want out of all this. five years from now, what would you want this place to look like? what do you want for yourself? all that jazz." answers he'd take and slowly start building upon to make into reality.
"'til that time though, i'll figure something out. married couples still went on dates after years of being together, right?" already, he was trying to swim from the haze of a buzzed mind in favor of recalling what remained in town. maybe he could make a night out of a bottle of wine, some candles and a craft of some sort. if this was their home, it ought to be personalized. maybe if he was lucky he could find a polaroid camera. "want me to carry you upstairs or are we crashing here tonight?"
The woman settled herself against him, loving the feeling of Roman's arm around her, how natural this felt. They had been close before but never like this and Alara realized that the feelings she had developed for him were not one sided. She knew it wasn't because he was stuck with her and had needs, not when he was the one putting a stop to their kissing and talking about knowing her more and even taking her out on a date. "Guess I should take myself out on dates before you do so that I know what to tell you," she said with a laugh. Thriving, this was really the place they were at now, weren't they? What did she want for herself? Where did she saw herself in five years? Being alive was the only answer she had for now before everything else sounded like a pipe dream. "Before you, before this place, I didn't even think being alive in a week or a month was possible. Five years? It scares me Roman because what if all that planning and dreaming is for nothing?"
Married couples still went on dates. Alara could see how much Roman wanted this, how he cared about her and it was more than enough for the woman. She never had much luck dating before, always going after the wrong men for her and now, in this end of the world, she found Roman. And here they were, after surviving what they had, together and that was more than enough for her. "Yes, I believe it's something couples used to do." She didn't know how that worked now, how couples acted in this world or even if they were one now. They lived together, took care of each others and now, they apparently kissed. Alara didn't want to get ahead of herself but it sounded very couple like. "Crashing here sounds comfortable only for one of us and that person is me," she said as she nestled herself a little more into his arms. Alara didn't want to leave his arms but she didn't dare suggest they share a bed. "I'll get up on my own in just a minute."
a bark of laughter escapes him βΈΊ the sharp noise conveying his surprise even as eyes shine with appreciation. it's rare that someone claps back at his remarks and rather folds to the honeyed comments and pretty smile. outside of the benefit of working together to get the hell out of the supposed safe haven they'd found, it seemed he would find some additional entertainment from her as well. "oh? that's a level of confidence i can appreciate. whose to say the same couldn't be said for me? quite the battle of wills, huh?"
though he hears her, the man decides not to comment. he knows the odds βΈΊ his parents were older. his brother too good hearted to leave anyone behind, even a stranger. even if they'd somehow managed to survive this long, the likelihood of finding them with a general lack of communication? so, so slim. "we'll find them," he eventually notes. or was that just something they told themselves, to keep themselves sane?
dark hues settle on her and brows furrow. it seems like an empty promise, but what is the man going to do? demand some sincerity when they're only working together out of a shared interest? blowing out a breath, his head dips into a nod. "yeah. i'll come to you if something happens. regardless, maybe we should plan to sit down at night to chat about what we saw or did that day? i might see something i don't think much of, but if you see something that might give it meaning, well... better to know ahead of time than be caught by surprise."
The woman rose an eyebrow at Silas' reaction, the way he laughed, as if he was surprised anyone would bite back. Then again, Leti wasn't too surprised that someone like him often got his way. There was something about Silas that conveyed importance and confidence, two traits that were often enough for people to fold. And in the world they were now in, it was even easier to almost blindly anyone who seemed to know what they were doing. "Guess we'll both have to be careful then," she added, slightly teasingly. To say that she entirely trusted Silas would be a lie but from everyone here, he was the one she trusted the most. Not that it said much but he was her best bet to get what she wanted.
Leti slightly nodded at his words, the faint we'll find them being enough, at least for now. She had to believe it was true, had to hold on to that with everything she got or else, there wasn't anything back for her out there. Everyone had people that had been left behind and many didn't believe anymore. Leti was lucky to have her sister with her, that was one less people to look for even if she had to protect her. At least she knew she was in good hands, hers. And now also Silas, at least while their shared interest aligned.
"As long as we're clear that I'm not some housewife that'll wait with a warm meal, we can sit down to chat about the day." Leti had to put some boundaries, assert herself in what he could expect of her. She had seen too many of his kind who expected her to soften and change, just for them. But he was right, discussing things might be the best way to find new information, having a second set of eyes always best. "But you're right, we might miss something the other wouldn't." This was a push and pull, giving an inch only to take another one back. She had been told many times that she made things harder on everyone but she always saw that as further proofs that she was taking too much space for people who didn't care to give her some. "I trust you not to put anything down, we never know if they'll look through our things. We have to commit everything to memory unless we find a really good hiding spot."
β There will be no protest from me. β The truth is, Logan is just itching to be able to take their son out on the ranch with him. To have him follow him around, to show him the animal and how things work. To tell him that someday this could be all of his if that is what his heart desires. Logan has no plans on becoming the cold hearted man that his father is. He would treat all of his children the same. To love them equally. Something that his old man has always lacked. Logan was always doomed to be the lease favourite due to being the second born son. He'd always be in the shadow of Clayton in his father's eyes. Though that lack of love he has received from his father has always been made up by his mother. He often questioned how she could stay married to a man like his father. β He can stay in our room for as long as he needs. You don't need to stay in his room. I am not worried about what little sleep I may possibly get. I have functioned on a couple hours of sleep and I got through the days perfectly fine. β He spoke in a soft tone. He'd loose all the sleep in the world for the both of them any day. β I'm glad that she has been able to give you a helping hand. Cels is pretty great with babies and children. Though if you ask Nora she may say other wise. β A laugh escapes him at the mention of how his niece doesn't approve of how strict her aunt can be at times about things. Nora has always known how to play his emotions to get what she wants. β Adrian has been a pretty great help himself. Don't tell him that though cause I don't want his head to get too big. Though I am sure Celia is into big headed guys. β He laughs once again. β That must make you happy to know that you're folks are thinking about moving close. It will be good for our children to have both grandparents close even if not all of them are the greatest. β The faintest smile appears upon his lips at the referral to him father. β What are you going on about? Your cooking has very much progressed over the months. Has my sister been bossing you around the kitchen while trying to help you cook? β
"I'm surprised you haven't taken him down to show him everything yet," she said with a laugh. Their son was still too small and new for that. They had taken him to the doctor's office for his scheduled check-up and he had slept outside a little but they still had to take him around. Honestly, between the feedings, laundry, cooking and sleeping whenever they could, there was little time to go out. People came to them and it worked great for now. She knew that the moment Logan Jr. was alert enough, her husband would show him everything there was on the ranch, even if the baby didn't understand any of it. Sometimes, during the day, she held the baby and looked out there, filled with so much love that it hurt. Maggie felt more like herself than she ever had, more free and she hoped that their son would always feel like that. "I'll order one then. Can't believe I'll get to sleep between my two guys. How lucky am I?" She was being honest, the woman considered herself incredibly lucky. Logan was so understanding and loving. Yes, Celia was amazing and so good with kids, Maggie was lucky to have her helping out and she didn't know how she would do it without her. "I'm sure Nora will say differently when she gets older. Right now she's just spoiled, I wonder how she feels with sharing her uncle and aunt." The little girl had been the only child in the family and now she was sharing that with a baby. Although they were far from the others so maybe she wouldn't noticed it but then again, both Logan and Celia had moved away from her. "I'm glad he's been able to help. I told you he was a great guy," she said with a small shrug. Yes, she was glad that her parents were thinking about moving closer. They had always been close as a family and she missed them. She wanted her parents to be able to see their grandchildren grow and not see them only on sporadic visits for the holidays and the likes. "They'd like something in town. They've already have a few listings they're considering. And yes, it will be great for our children." She couldn't help but smile at the word, children and not child, many and not just one. They had talked about it, Maggie knew they both wanted the same thing but it was still something that amazed her. "My mom wants to learn to ride an my dad would like to help around at times. And my cooking has improved but there's still room. Hopefully we don't have picky eaters." She had never bothered to really learn to cook before moving, something she regretted. "And she'll be able to teach me a few more things in the kitchen and around the house."
β Just know that I didn't mean any shade towards your's and my brother's choice about the speed of your relationship. It is just that I have more baggage than Logan, and he only has baggage because of me. I guess what I am trying to say is that I know that I love, Adrian. Do to my past relationship, I guard my heart a lot more than I did. β A soft sigh falls from Celia's lips. She hadn't thought about how maybe her words about moving too fast may be seen as a sort of jab and her brother and sister in laws relationship. Yes, Celia hadn't always been happy and supportive of the quickness in the pairs relationship. However that had been more because she had missed out on a special event of her brother's. Not having time to accept it before their pregnancy news had been sprung upon her. Also hating that Logan had used their older brother Clay as his scape goat in breaking the news to Celia. β Maybe I've missed it because I am too focused on the little adorable human you and my brother have made. Though I will be sure to look for the signs. As for Logan not seeing the signs. He is probably too stressed about everything on the ranch to notice if Adrian is baby crazy. β A laugh falls from fem's lips. β I agree, a serious conversation needs to take place. Though I do know a baby at some point is something I want. I just am not sure when that time will be yet. β Celia speaks in a soft tone. She knew that a baby could make or break a relationship, and she isn't sure that her and Adrian's relationship is ready for that just yet. β I think we have a couple of things to figure out before we bring a small human life into this crazy world. β
"I'm just teasing," Maggie with a laugh. She knew Celia hadn't mean anything by it. Maggie knew that Logan and her didn't do things like everyone else and that was what made their relationship so good and strong, part of their magic. To everyone else, it had looked like they had just met, just decided to be together but it had been months in the making, they just kept that to themselves. But once they decided to be together, they both had been all in. Maggie had change and grown more in the last months than in all her life. And she loved every seconds of it. "Logan and I do things differently. I don't think conventional would work for us." Maggie hoped they would be like this all their lives. "Yes, you have a past that is painful," the woman carefully said. She knew what Celia had gone through, knew what happened with her fiancΓ© and all the repercussions of that. Selfishly, she couldn't say that she wished none of that happened because then she wouldn't have the happiness she had today. If Celia's fiancΓ© hadn't cheated on her, if Logan hadn't found out, if he hadn't assaulted the man, he would never have been sent away to Clayton's, to the place where they met. Maggie knew that everything she had was because the woman in front of her had suffered. "He is adorable, isn't he? God, he's just perfect." Her voice was full of love. "Logan has been stressing himself too much and I can't imagine how he would be if you weren't here. He's going to drive himself mad trying to do everything." He had things to prove to everyone but mostly himself. The day he fully understood that he was already more than he was trying to be, Maggie hoped he would finally slow down a little. "For what it's worth, I know you'll be a great mother. And I know Adrian will be there for you every steps of the way, when that moment comes. I know you two are meant to be together. Even Logan agrees now."
Clay knew that sooner than later that two were going to have to come clean to their daughter about their relationship. Something that he knew that his daughter could take greatly which he is positive she would or terribly. He holds little doubt that Nora wouldn't be over the moon happy at the idea of her father and Beatriz finally being together. He still recalls how Bea had expressed the dislike that his daughter held for the idea of her going on a date with someone that hadn't been her father. In reality there had been part of him that had become jealous at the idea of some other man getting to enjoy a woman that he cared deeply about. Clay has never been able to put his finger on it, --- but there had just been something that had drawn the two strongly together from the very start. It had just taken him longer to realize his feeling for her and he is embarrassed by such a confession. A rather big smile begins to form upon his lips at her confession of it being something that she considers to be her favourite part of her day. Clay stands there and admires just how amazing and motherly Beatriz is with Nora considering that she isn't her own. It only makes his love for her grow more. He can't help but laugh at Bea's words. β What you don't think that I don't know how to have fun? You before I became so serious like this I was actually a fun guy. β Clay knows that it is hard to believe that he could be anything other than serious. β Well, I am sure that the grumpy old man can accept you taking the day off so that you can spend it doing fun stuff with us. Though I think they will have to talk about the day off later in the evening. β Playful smirk now replaying the smile that had once been on his lips.
The woman had always been very careful when it came to Nora, to be a friend and not a motherly figure. The little girl already had a mother and until recently, she was nothing more than a good friend of her father. Now that Clayton and her were figuring things out, she was even more careful. The peace she had found in their home often felt too good to be true. But Bea knew that it was real, that it was strong and it filled her with love. "If that what you like to tell yourself," she teased back. Of course she knew Clay was a fun guy, that was part of the reason she had fallen in love with him in the first place. Even if he wasn't exactly outgoing, he was funny and they shared many laughs together. But this impromptu day off was something she hadn't seen yet. "If the grumpy old man agrees, then I can't say no, right bunny?" It was a very pleasant thought, the one of spending the day with Clay and Nora. The mention of talking it later in the evening was not lost on her and Bea wondered if Clay was referring to one of their many late night chats. She knew that many women would feel like Clay was hidden them, if they were in her position but she knew the man and knew that she would not be here if it wasn't real, if it wasn't serious. They didn't need to rush into things, there was more than just the two of them at stakes. Still, she couldn't wait for the day Nora would know and that they wouldn't have to hide anymore. "So tell me grumpy old man, what do you have in mind for this fun day of adventures?" Nora wasn't looking and the woman took that opportunity to mouth I love you, before turning around to start on that breakfast.
he could get lost in her βΈΊ it would be entirely too easy, and for a moment, he allows himself that liberty. the arm that had wound its way over the back of the couch when they'd initially sat down curls around her βΈΊ drags her closer as his free hands skirts along her jaw, tilting her head so that he can nearly devour her.
it's difficult for him to separate himself from her ; lips pulling away, only to return and pepper a few more kisses of various length, over and over again before roman finally forces himself back with a chuckle. the room is spinning, and he's drunk βΈΊ though the man is certain the feeling is because of her, and not from the alcohol. tucking loose strands of hair behind her ear, the man can't help but drop a kiss to her forehead. "i'm doing this all wrong," he murmurs. "pretty sure you're meant to bring a girl out on a proper date before you kiss her. lemme make it up to you another day? don't know what a proper date would really look like these days but i think i could figure it out, if you'd let me."
This felt better than she had even imagined, when she dared to let her mind go there. Alara could feel how the man wanted this, maybe as much as she had and a satisfied hum escaped her in the small moment he pulled away for the firs time. Alara didn't know for how long they had been kissing, all notion of time being lost on her. There was only Roman on her mind, only how good kissing him felt, how it should have been like this almost always. It felt as if all they had been through had partly led them to here and now. Not for the first time, Alara felt a certain guilt about it, maybe now more than ever. That she got to feel happiness again, feel safe and cared was more than she could ever have hoped. It scared her, how fragile it all was.
When Roman pulled away, for good this time, she nestled into his arms once more. "You know, I think people are also supposed to kiss before moving in together," she added with a laugh. It was dizzying, the idea that someone could want to do something so frivolous for her as to take her on a date. This was what Roman had given her, a sense of normality and it was more precious than anything anyone could ever give her. "I don't need a fancy date Roman, or any date at all. Aren't those just to get to know the other person anyway?" Of course, she liked the idea that Roman could want to do something for her, but then again, he was doing that daily. "But i'm not going to stop you if you really want to do that." Domestic bliss, was such a thing even possible now? It felt like it and it made the woman smile broader than she had in years.
ββ β¦ πππΒ Β Β Β Β * trying to draft as many replies as possible to queue them for the coming week. i've been showered with love in the form of amazing threads!
Logan knew that life would change the moment that his son had been born, but things had become a much quicker pace than he ever imagined. He had been grateful that he was able to take the first month off to be with Maggie and their son. if he could he would have taken more time off. However he knew that he was also needed back and that the men that work for him may start thinking it was unprofessional of him to be taking so much time away from his work on the ranch. There is no denying that both he and Maggie were thankful for both Celia and Adrian's help they have been giving since they had arrived. Logan himself had been surprised by the shift in his relationship with Adrian. It had started out rocky, but now he has become one of the most trusted men in his life. β I appreciate the favour, but I also don't want you to go out of your way because of me. β He knew that he sounds foolish for turning down the male's offer. However he doesn't want to be asking too much of the male either and have it affect his relationship with his younger sister. β Are you sure that, Cels is going to want to wake up that early? From what I remember early mornings weren't really her things growing up. β A teasing smirk beginning to form upon his lips.
Ranch life was a hard one and Adrian knew that. The work could be hard and the hours were never fixed. Logan couldn't take much time off, even if he had a strong and stable crew. Family life was hard to balance and Adrian couldn't help but wonder how much of it was getting to his brother-in-law. Logan had came home to lead the ranch, something that was new to him and he became a father not too long after. "You're kinda the reason we moved here man," Adrian said with a laugh. It wasn't said with bad intention or to guilt the other but it was also true. They came here to help Logan and Maggie and that included taking over a few things when possible. Strangely, he enjoyed the move. Celia and him hadn't talked about how long it would be but the more things progressed, the more Adrian had the feeling it would be permanent. And if that was the case, he needed to work as much as he could to put money aside. It was old fashion and Celia would probably laugh at him but Adrian wanted to be able to buy them a house eventually. "I'll make her some strong coffee and cary her to the car myself. You guys need the rest, Celia and I can sleep peacefully at night." He knew that he shouldn't offer for Celia to do things without talking to her first, but he could see how much Logan needed the little time off, even if it was just to sleep one more hour next to his wife. "We could even make it a weekly thing. The way ranch owners never taking time off is kinda old fashioned and wrong."
Logan already believed that his wife has always been an incredible woman, but since the birth of their son she has become even more incredible. Something that he wasn't sure was even capable of becoming since she already was so much. Though watching her with their son made his heart swell with even more love for her. Logan is no fool. He knows just how lucky he is that he found himself such an amazing woman that wanted to build a life with him. Even knowing that his lifestyle wouldn't always be an easy one. Her love and support is what keeps him going everyday. β I really don't mind, baby. You already do almost everything for him day and night. The least I can do is give you the evening to yourself. β Logan doesn't want his wife to become burnt out because she was busy doing everything herself. β Of course I don't have an issue with getting that if that is what you want to do. You will never catch me complaining about having you both in our bedroom. β Sure, he knew that it meant he wouldn't sleep as well as he has been. However that doesn't matter to him, because it meant that he'd have both his wife and son close to him all night. A laugh escapes him at his wife's words. β If that is what you need of me than of course I can't say no. In all seriousness if there is anything else you need help from me just let me know. Please. β
"Don't worry, as soon as he can walk, I'm sending him out there with you," she said with a laugh. "Then he'll be all yours." It really wasn't that bad. Yes, she was exhausted but their son wasn't fussy. Maggie had read about babies who were colicky or had reflux and she was thankful that Logan Jr. seemed to have none of these. But he still had some fight in him and a good set of lungs. "We could have it for a time, at least until the night feedings are this frequent. Then we can try moving him back to his room. I know your sleep won't be the same," she added quickly. "So I really don't mind if you prefer i'd get some bed for his room or something." Her husband was working really hard on the ranch, and his father was still being his usual asshole self when it came to Logan. The last thing she wanted was to add any stress to his life, even if she knew that their son and her were not such a thing. "We're lucky to have your sister helping me so much. I wasn't sure she'd come around for a while there but she's been a blessing." Maggie was glad that Celia had moved back and even more than she found a friend in the woman. And that Logan and Adrian found a way to get along. The woman would remember how worked up her husband had been after his first meeting with him. "My mom called earlier, they might be looking to sell their house and buy something closer. Something about not being able to be so far from her precious grandson." Maggie didn't know how Logan would react to is in0law being closer, it was a lot of family around. But it would be additional help when they'd need it. And since Maggie had the inkling that their son was the first of a few, it could be good to have her parents closer. "You're already doing so much for us baby, even if it's not in the house. Only thing I need from you is to be here when the work is done and pretend my cooking has improved." And for those dreadful six weeks to come and pass. God, as exhausted as she was, she couldn't help but miss being intimate with her husband.
A laugh falls from fem's lips at Adrian's remark about the crying that the little babe makes when he either one of three, tired, hungry or needs his diaper changed. The sounds of a baby crying isn't anything new for her. Celia had been around a lot when her niece had been born. β if you think that he is loud, -- you should have heard how loud sweet little Nora was. Than again, she does still have a pretty intense cry. β It is safe to say that Celia is close both of her brother's children. Even if one is still just a baby. Though since moving back home she has grown to miss her sassy little niece that always had her on her toes and laughing. Celia still recalls when the younger female told her that she approved of Adrian as if she were some adult family member. β He is pretty cute. I think he will just continue to get cuter if he takes after his mother's looks. β Celia jokes. Though she knows that he isn't wrong about the fact that it has seemed that her brother and his wife had made a pretty darn cute baby. She knew that herself and the male were serious. They had to be if he had been willing to pick up and move across the country just to be with her. β is he giving the crazy idea of wanting one of your own? β
"She does yes," Adrian said with a laugh. He could remember one time, standing outside of Clayton's house, hearing the little girl bloody murder as if the world had came to an end. Adrian couldn't remember the reason for such crying and screaming but he remembered that it had been something trivial. That thought, the idea of tantrum and screaming should be enough to deter him, it once had, but not now. The thought only made him smile more. "Yeah, we don't want him to look any more like Logan, one is enough. Hopefully he takes after Maggie for his personality too." Adrian and Logan got along well now but it hadn't always been the case, a thought that never failed to make him laugh and shake his head. It was the woman by his side who united them, even if she was also the cause of the tension at first. Logan had just been looking out for his sister and Adrian looking out for his girl. "He does," Adrian said softly, almost stopping breathing. Despite how strongly he felt about Celia, and how much he knew she felt about him, there was always something between them. Celia had been badly hurt before if it wasn't the kind of thing one got over easily. There was often the fear in Adrian that she would never entirely let him inside because of her ex. Talking about kids felt like a huge step and one that could create some tension. "I guess their happiness and how cute that little blob of a human is makes me want something similar," he added with a small shrug.
For the first time in a very long time Clayton is externally happy with how things are going in his life. Things on the ranch have been going smoothly, he had his daughter that is always making him laughing and one of the joys of his life. Now he has the woman of his dreams by his side. Sure, maybe for now they made the choice to keep their relationship to themselves. However that doesn't change how strongly the two feel for one another. Clay wasn't even sure what the hour had been when he and Beatriz must have fallen asleep. He hadn't stirred from his position until he had felt the body next to him move, and shortly after heard the voice of his daughter. He heard the front door close so he could only assume that it had to be Bea. She was likely panicking at the mere idea of getting caught by Nora. Clay does his best to act like nothing is off. That she hadn't spent the evening. β I think it is our favourite time of the day. What you think, Nora? β A soft smile forming upon his lips as he looks from Nora to Bea. β You know that I will never say no to coffee. β It was in that moment that the idea of taking the day off to spend with two females crosses his mind. He can't remember the last time he took time for himself. β What does everyone think about a work free day? β
The way they were on the same wavelength never stopped to amazed Bea. Maybe it was because their relationship started as a strong friendship or maybe that friendship had just been them unable to realized how they truly felt in the first place. Whatever it was, the woman was grateful for it. Beatriz knew how lucky she was and was forever grateful for it. Clayton had presented himself as somehow who would never find love again, who refused to let anyone in but he had done it for her. Now, making her way to the kitchen, she was flustered and smiling broadly. "I think it's mine too." And it was true, long before Clay and I decided to try being together, Bea always loved being here with them. To be accepted by the little girl and her father and been a blessing for the woman who was far from her own family and missing them deeply. They had welcomed her in their little family, even as a friend. "What about you bunny," Bea said as she looked at Nora, "want some coffee too?" Nora's coffee was hot chocolate and they all knew it but it was fun to play pretend. Bea stopped what she was doing when Clayton suggested they all took the day off. "Quick Nora, go take your dad's temperature, I think he must have some kind of Spring fever," she said with a laugh. "I had one client to visit today. Grumpy guy with some ranch, usually not one to let people have a good time. I need to ask him first." They both knew she was supposed to come to Clay's ranch today. There was a twinkle in her eyes and the way Clayton looked from Nora to her made her heart swell so much it almost hurt. This moment, it was everything that mattered to her, standing in the kitchen with Clayton and Nora, acting as a family. Bea ached to extend her hand to the man, a good kind of ache.
Celia almost choked on her drink the moment that her sister in law asked her question. It definitely hadn't been one that she was expecting. β Oh God, I definitely was not expecting that when you said you had a serious question for me. β A faint laugh falls from her lips. β Does he give off the vibe lately that it has been something on his mind or are you just asking to be curious? β If Maggie was able to read the room of what Adrian has been thinking than she can only imagine that her brother has been able to pick up on it. β Maybe he has recently mentioned the idea of wanting to have one. I just don't want us to rush things to quickly and ruin or relationship. I know it probably sounds dumb to be thinking like that when he is clearly pretty in love with me if he was willing to travel this whole way just for me. β
"Yes, rushing into things never works," she said with a soft laugh. Of course, Maggie knew the other woman didn't mean anything by it and she understood why she was being careful. But considering her sister-in-law had once been so mad at them for how quickly they rushed into things, it was a little funny. "Oh yes, he gives that vibe. I don't think Logan noticed it yet because he would have said something about it." Her husband was not as observant as Maggie could be and even less when it came to these things. It was something the woman would tease her husband with for the rest of their lives, how he hadn't even been able to realize what they had until it was almost too late. "We both know Adrian will do anything for you and that include waiting until you're ready. And I'm not saying go get pregnant right now, but I think you should maybe have a serious conversation about it. Or you could do things the way Logan and I do and wing it." They hadn't even been married for a year and they already had a son. But that way of doing things worked for them. "I don't think you could do anything to ruin your relationship Cels. I think he's your one, like Logan is mine," she said as she stole a glance to their son.

"Has Adrian started to have the baby talk with you yet?" Maggie asked her sister-in-law as casually as possible. Her son was sleeping in his cot in the living room and it was hard not to pick him up, even if he was sound asleep. The woman loved holding him, his baby scent filling her nostril as she gently caressed his hair. It could be so peaceful, to just be there with him and it filled her heart with so much love, both for the baby and her husband. "I see the way he looks at you when you hold him and how he rushes to hold him when he can. That man is getting baby fever."

Following Celia here meant that he needed work and Adrian had been half surprised when Logan agreed to give him a chance on his ranch. The man wasn't a stranger to ranch work, it was what he had been doing before, but the relationship between the two of them had once been tensed. Now, Adrian considered the other one as more than just his brother-in-law, which was strange. "I don't mind picking up some work around if you want to leave earlier to be with your family," Adrian said casually. He didn't want to tell Logan what to do but he knew how much it pained him to not be there as much as he would like. "I can come in even earlier tomorrow if it can help. And bring your sister with me. Maybe you could both sleep in a little."

It had been a close call, Nora almost surprising them together. The bliss they experienced together was making them bolder as they settled into their relationship. They had fallen asleep together on the couch after some late night talking, the woman in Clayton's arms. Bea had been the one to open her eyes first, just as she heard Nora stir upstairs. She had quickly gotten up and left, only to come back in as she had so often did to come see them in the morning. Except that this time she had spent the night, in a way, for the first time with Clay. Not that Nora would have seem anything that was out of place, but she didn't know about the two of them. "Came to make breakfast for my two favorite people," she said with a smile. Her heart was beating wildly, the close call pushing adrenaline into her veins. She was still in last night clothes and she was hoping Nora would not pick on it. "Coffee for everyone first." The words had been said as she shot Clay a look, one that said that they might soon have some explaining to do if things continued that way.
