I mean uhm. Our stance on scones is firm and we can’t support this kind of endorsement. Scones can have a little poison in them sometimes and the fact that we’ve been keeping one since April is no cause for concern

How is the scone doing? Have funguses moved in yet? I say this with delight :)

It looks exactly the same as it did when we first acquired it secondhand, identical to the one that we consumed many months ago. This fact concerns, mystifies, and delights us in equal measure (Except Luni, Odile, and Rust, who think that we should get rid of it, and Liver and Mayhem, who think that we should eat it fast “before it becomes any more poisoned”, “to see what happens to us”, or “to see if it was really the scone that made us sick” (paraphrased). (I am also delighted by our keeping of the scone, it is like a beloved pet to me.)

We’ve been thinking about doing a “daily photo of the scone” series, to document its progression into decay, but there’s really no telling if it will at this point. Maybe it has been, and we haven’t noticed. I’ll have to inspect it closely. We’ve kept it in a dedicated bag, also secondhand, easy to retrieve. Photograph and further examination below.

On inspection it is still dry. I would have expected the fruit to rot by now at the very least, though perhaps the presence of sugar and preservatives, as well as the drying nature of the baking process(?) have interfered. Or perhaps it already had before we had gotten to it, and that’s why the fruit tasted so unplaceable. It has a soft, almost linty texture to it, easily malleable though I have done no such things to it as I fear it would crumble apart in our hands.

The most noticeable change I’ve picked up on since the last time I witnessed it in person is the small bite taken out of the corner. I do not know who did this, though it seems to be present in a few recent photos, so it isn’t new.

I too am curious of its progression.
