Dear Vector Prime, what can you tell us about the bounty hunter Nightfright?
Dear Batty Bountiful,
Nightfright was the brother of the Predacon known as Screechwing, and shared his alternate mode of a large cybernetic bat, though he was red in color. As a bounty hunter, Nightfright was well known for taking jobs from the Predacon Council where he was tasked with hunting down turncoats to the Predacon cause.
I've already told you of how he slew the Dinobot Terrorsaur and was slain by Grimlock in retribution, but Nightfright's targets were many. In one particularly harrowing job, he was sent after a mark by the name of Bonecrusher, a former Predacon who transformed into a bulldog. Nightfright tracked Bonecrusher to the refuse reclamation center he'd come to live in, and though the canine Maximal fought viciously, he succumbed to Nightfright’s phobia-inducing hypno-waves; Bonecrusher was overcome by visions of his greatest fears, leaving him defenseless to the bounty hunter.
Still yet another victim of Nightfright's was the grasshopper Maximal, Kickback. A craven coward, he left the Predacons and cozied up to the Autobots with promises of secret intel. Nightfright discovered that Kickback had a taste for organic snacks, and set a trap for the ravenous Insecticon… by ensnaring some aliens to use as bait. While Kickback devoured them, Nightfright snuck up behind the Maximal and blasted him.
There is one last job of Nightfright's, however, which truly lays bare his vile barbarism—his hunt for Apelinq, a particularly noble Predacon who deserted over moral objections' to the Council's cruelty. Apelinq did not resettle among the Autobots, but instead took refuge on a distant planet, where he became protector of a group of indigenous natives. Rather than target the formidable Apelinq directly, Nightfright terrorized his protectorate, picking them off after sundown one by one… until Apelinq was near-catatonic with grief and guilt, unable to muster the will to defend himself against the bat Predacon.
Nightfright was a truly corrupt individual, and his death at Grimlock's hands was met with relief by Autobots, Maximals, and Predacons alike. It is said that not even Screechwing mourned his brother's passing.
Here's an EOTW OC I've been meaning to make a new ref sheet for for *ages* but never got around to until now. But now, finally, she has a nice shiny new ref sheet that's much more to the standard of the ref sheets for the rest of her family. It's Screechwing, the chatty, cheerful daughter of Silentstorm and Lightfoot. <3
Dear Vector Prime, is it time yet for you to tell us more about the Spychangers Sideswipe and Prowl 2 like you originally promised?
Dear Sequel Spy,
I suppose enough time has passed for me to tell you of their adventures on Earth! This is something of a "lost tale", considering it never made its way to being chronicled in your universe, and it takes place during the battle between the Autobots and Megatron's Predacons.
Side Swipe and Prowl came to Earth from Cybertron with their fellow Spychangers Ransack and Backtrack, in pursuit of the Predacon criminal Screechwing, who had stolen an experimental Go-Brillium power core that he hoped to deliver to Megatron in order to completely power up the Megastar. Should that power fall into Megatron's hands, not only would he have enough energy to power his ship indefinitely, he'd also have the energy needed to energize his Predacons and Decepticons into super warriors.
The Spychangers were lucky enough to find Screechwing before he could meet up with Megatron, but before they could take him into custody, the Predacon used his mind controlling sonic powers to turn Autobot against Autobot. Side Swipe, Prowl, and their two companions were forced to battle their seniors. Thankfully, they were able to bring them to their senses, defeat Screechwing, and take back the Go-Brillium power core, all with the power of teamwork! With their job done they returned to Cybertron, where Side Swipe continued his research into the core's development, which he would later use to help create the Spychangers' spark engines that they used in order to battle Chainsaw and his mutants.
Dear Vector Prime, what can you tell us about Screechwing and Spiketail?
Dear Basic Beseecher,
Screechwing and Spiketail were among Predacon’s many converts in a universe I previously spoke of, where the mutated Horrorcons threatened Cybertron. Neither were particularly bright or strong Cybertronians before their fateful transformations into beasts, and the upgrade did little to improve their mental or physical acuity. Both Decepticons, however, emerged from the other end as wheedling, simpering lackeys, and their unshakeable devotion to Predacon amused their new master.
Screechwing, the brighter of the two, became a priest in Predacon’s growing cult. He drew up a long list of many nonsensical rules and laws that would set them apart from the ‘bots who dwelled on the Cybertronian surface, and forced his many supplicants to obey them. Many cultists who found themselves succumbing to their new beast instincts would find themselves beset by Screechwing from above and brutally brought back into line.
Spiketail became his gibbering assistant, always eager to please. He grew fond of jabbering at length about the number and superiority of his beast mode digits and sought out the other “four-bots” who shared four claws, talons, or fingers in their alternate mode. Despite his good cheer, however, all but the most pathetic members of the cult soon grew tired of him, and Spiketail and his ramblings were both largely consigned to the margins of their growing society.
