Great piece from Bustle by JR Thorpe. Mildred Pierce is no. 1 on the list for good reason. It's a brilliant depiction of a woman's struggle to succeed in a harsh world. Joan Crawford built a career on playing strong, independent women on-screen, becoming one of the most iconic Hollywood actresses ever. Her performances are phenomenal in pretty much everything she did, but 1945's Mildred Pierce was her film noir masterpiece!
