I figured I’d start sharing the vast library of process vids I’ve made over the years drawing for Marvel and DC, but where does one start? I started by randomly selecting this snippet from the Uncanny X-Men issue 5, from 2013!

Process for most of my variant cover to Ice Cream Man issue 1 from Image Comics in January. All ipadpro and Procreate. I filmed this using screenflow as the exported process video was unreadable by iMovie, and the added joy of being able to zoom in and pan manually during playback has given me all sorts of silly ideas for future projects...

Produktionsvorbereitung Schulungsvideos

Habe mein Equipment für die Produktion meiner Schulungsvideos zusammengestellt. War gar nicht so einfach alles zu bekommen, da seit einigen Wochen der Markt, was gutes Videopodcastequipment betrifft, total abgegrast ist. 😬

Ich nutze als Videoquelle für die Videoaufzeichnungen und Zoom/Skype/etc...-Sessions eine Canon M50, mit einem Sigma 16mm Objektiv (Macht durch Autofocus den Hintergrund so schon unscharf).

Die Kamera habe ich an meinen MacAir angeschlossen und die Aufzeichnungen & Bearbeitung erfolgt per Screenflow (Firma Telestream). Audio nehme ich mit dem Rode Podcaster Mikrofon ab und die Soundnachbearbeitung erfolgt in Steinbergs Cubase Elements.

Am kommenden Dienstag richte ich alles, inklusive Dreipunktbeleuchtung, ein und werde darüber (inkl. Vergleichsfotos) berichten.

Eine Woche später: Erste Konfigurationen erledigt. Anbei zwei Fotos, einmal mit der eingebauten Laptop-Cam und danach mit Licht & neuem Equipment, alles über Zoom.

Natürlich werde ich mich für die Videos entsprechend vorbereiten, d.h. Rasierten, Frisieren, Hemd, etc... :) Ist jetzt erst mal nur ein Vergleichstest im “Casualstil”.

Die technische Qualität der Videos wird natürlich besser durch die Aufzeichnung und Verarbeitung mit ScreenFlow. Bei Zoom bekommt man nicht die Qualität hin, aber für Meetings mit Kunden und Online-Trainings reicht es alle mal.

Move iphone video to Mac

Are you having difficulties getting the video files off of your iPhone and onto your MAC computer to edit in ScreenFlow?  This tutorial will help!

1.  Connect the iPhone to the computer through the USB Cable. 2.  Go down to the finder area.  Click on Applications and select “Image Capture.” 3.  Choose your iPhone and select the video file to import. 4.  Open ScreenFlow and insert the file you just imported.

These are the simple steps to move iPhone video to Mac and free up space on your iPhone.

If you do not have an iPhone, Get an iPhone.  When you use this investment for your business, it is a tax write off!  (Consult your tax professional.)

This post is mainly for users of the older generation iPhone 4, 5, and some of the iPhone 6’s.  The only reason you would need to move iPhone video to Mac is if you’re shooting video all day long and using 4k resolution. This becomes a problem if your iPhone is 128GB or less.

How To Stretch Your Memory On Your iPhone

If you’d like to avoid the Move iPhone video to Mac.  You’ll want to change the defaults in your settings from 4k to 1080P.

To do this, go to Settings > Camera > Record Video.  The choices will be listed as follows on iOS devices with version 11.3

720P HD @ 30fps

1080P HD @ 30fps

1080P HD @ 60fps

4k @ 24fps

4k @ 30fps

4k @ 60fps

This is what is listed on my iPhone 8 Plus.  Depending on your model of iPhone, you may have more or less of these options.  My default is set at 1080p @ 30 frames per second.

What is FPS?

For those that have not delved into the video creation world, you will start seeing more references to “FPS” and of course the 720p, 1080p, 4k, 5k references.

To help you make a decision on which to choose, start by deciding where you’re going to show your video.

Is it just on your phone or on a flat screen?

Is the flat screen going to have 4k or 5k capability?

Are you planning your video for social media?

What social media outlet are you planning your video for?  YouTube, Facebook, Vimeo, LinkedIn?

All these questions need to be answered for you to make the best choice when deciding which setting to choose for your default.

Another Quick iPhone Video Tip

Normally, when you are making a video from the iPhone, you have to click on the photo button to start the recording.  Did you know that you can also use the volume controls on the side of the phone to start and stop the video?  This feature makes it much easier to hold the phone while recording yourself.
