You know what absolutely kills me regarding the recent controversy regarding a bigoted student at OU getting her trans professor fired for “religious persecution?” It’s that the essay which got this person a 0% wasn’t given a failing grade because it merely mentioned the Bible. But rather that the essay itself is so POORLY WRITTEN!!!

Like, this kinda crap would get thrown out in a FREAKING Middle School class! It relies heavily on personal biases without any basic empirical evidence or citations! If I were the professor grading this essay I would’ve immediately laughed out loud and said, “This is a joke, right? This isn’t your actual submitted paper, right?”

i live in a very conservative area. i work with a lot of older people at my job. i also wear my icarus cardigan a lot as it has become a comfort item for me.

sometimes people come up to me at my library and ask what my jacket is from. i never know what to say.

like

“this is from a minecraft smp with gods and magic and lots of gay people”

“this is from a video game roleplay thing i watch”

so i end up saying that its from an anime called fable.

PP Provides a number of women's health services to women of all walks of life, which yes does include abortion services (3% of ALL services provided). It's not just low-income or young people, though those are certainly some of the most important, as they may not have access to these services otherwise. Not just women, either. Men can go for prostate exams and other men's health services. Everyone can go for STI screening and treatment, and they are a safe place for victims of abuse.

All of these services are SAFE, LEGAL, and CONFIDENTIAL. In case you don't want the person you live with to know you are receiving service, they provide the option of identifying themselves as a Doctor's office, or any other code name you ask, when/if they call. Many, if not all, services are available for FREE to people of low-income, who may or may not have insurance.

And in case you missed it, your taxes are NOT PAYING FOR ABORTIONS (except in the case of rape, incest, or life-threatening situations). They ARE paying for mammograms, pap smears, birth control of all kinds, STI/STD testing and treatment, cancer screening for men and women, prostate exams, fertility treatments, urinary tract care, relationship counseling, body image counseling, abuse counseling, sexual orientation and gender identity information and counseling, prenatal care, miscarriage/ectopic pregnancy care and counseling, and many general health services, plus more services that I haven't even listed. If they can't help you themselves, they connect you or direct you to agencies that can.

Women's health has been under a systemic, unrelenting attack since... well, as long as there has been male-driven society. It is high time we stand against those who would control out bodies. We are 50% of the population of the world! Men and women and everyone in between MUST work together for the good of the human race as a whole, and disallowing half of us access to care for our bodies is simply unthinkable.
