Outsiders early filming script 2 -

Something I will outright praise/ am happy to get confirmed is that in our final two versions of the movie a lot of the scenes feel super edited/cut down from the larger moments in the book. In way that’s clear that it was all filmed just cut up— the script confirms this with much longer scenes at the drive in and with Randy and close dialogue.

Vindication!!! 🗣️

Part 1

Straight from the book but it’s also so much clearer that there is some of this, or more with their parents before the train and it’s cut so weird in final versions.

This is a good example of pulling in what was narration into some cute dialogue! That works and is naturally. Something else I like is there’s a bit more of Gone with the Wind, utilized to really have the boys think and compare on what they’re going though beyond the gallant scene (click to read more)

There’s also Johnnycake! And a few little things

Also! Sandy!! She’s not dropped! It’s included but it also gives a clearer less ambiguous idea than the book, but it’s still not clear as it’s others ideas not her own words.

I am reading the script for the Hunger Games movie. I wanted to look something up for the fic (didn't find that thing) but I did find out that Foxface is named "Marissa." (Why did people tell me she was called "Finch" in the script?)

And the male ribute from 4 is "Bravura." (How would you even shorten that for a nickname? "Bra" sounds wrong.)

These both seem wrong to me but Suzanne Collins was cowriter so now I feel like I should use those names....

Fun fact from my Script/DR #2:

I am a Muggle-born! My parents have no idea about any witches or wizards and they didn’t find out until I got a hand delivered letter by one of the Hogwarts Professors on my eleventh birthday. 

Understandably, my parents were not too excited about me going to Hogwarts and learning spells so they forbid me to go. However, desperate to learn more about my powers I begged the professor to help me. He put a simple spell on them that makes them believe I study abroad at some fancy university. It hurts to lie to my parents but they would never understand. I can’t just ignore who I am! I’m a witch! I have to learn more. 

When I had to go shopping at Diagon Alley, I had no one to help me. My parents obviously weren’t there and I was simply thrown into the whole wizarding world by myself. Or so I thought... 

Luckily for me, I had the Weasleys. Fred and George specifically (we were the same age). They helped me shop for my wand, my broom, my pet ferret, everything!  I truly can’t thank them enough for the kindness they showed me and I slowly became best friends with them throughout our years at Hogwarts.

when you go to the bathroom, your pee never runs down your legs and the wipe always comes out clean. Doesn't smell bad, and you don't have to go in awkward places like malls or restaurants.

Outsiders early filming script 1-

Finally got around to reading it and it’s definitely an early script, there’s some moments that need repair/it’s clear it’s not the Final Cut. It doesn’t start with “when I stepped out…” but instead in the middle of the extended opening and little things like that.

There are a lot more word-for-word moments from the book in the script, honestly I can understand doing a bit more of a blend in a Final Cut as it seems a little clunky/before actors give their spin.

There’s moments too where it will share some more book narration! This is done best when it’s Pony narrating over what’s happening, like he does a few times in the Final Cut. Other times it’s through dialogue— which only worked during the church scene other times it feels out of place.

Ultimately, I love the complete novel but I would love to see a even more extended cut with some deleted scenes or scenes we haven’t even seen yet, there’s a few of them in the script that are such great choices I wish were included! (I know they have it all too smh) but really the movie shines a with the performances and input from the actors, there’s a lot more little moments of dialogue or stuff in the background that elevates it for me. I wish there was another script out there that’s later, there is a transcript but none of the dialogue is marked and it’s the… theatric cut 🙄

Anyway here’s some highlights:

Love this last moment particularly as it forshadows Pony turning tuff and breaking the bottle post rumble, even if it’s not included in the script. It plays into that later moment. Ough!

so the force awakens script! confirming! rey is tempted!

i feel completely sure that she’ll sway. the best argument against it is that she’s supposed to be a ~role model, or whatever, but the script (and the novel, from what i’ve seen of this scene) is very intentional about the two of them being pulled to opposite sides and i am more ready for it than ever.
