06 AUG 2016 - Scripture Doodle (Part 4): "Marriage Extends to Heaven?" 1 Corinthian 11:11 by Michael Clayton

This one was the simplest, so not much commentary here: the "11" is wrapped in a wedding ring made up of the "1" and the "C" and floating on a cloud.

I had considered adding wings, but it wasn't necessary.

05 AUG 2016 - Scripture Doodle (Part 3): "Our Bodies are a Gift" 1 Corinthian 6:19-20 by Michael Clayton

This one took me awhile.

This scripture talks about our bodies being a gift from from God and "bought with a price." Now it might be a stretch to change the "C" into the Euro symbol... but it works for me (and yes, I think that we are worth more than 1€6).

This one was the one that I nit-picked at the most and in the end made the tag a little larger.

Oh, and the dove... "What? know ye not that you body is a temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you..." (1 Cor 6:19)

... until I decided to simplify the doodle and make the person out of the "2" and help it to read a little easier.

So, I decided to buckle down and use the iPad Pro and ProCreate for these doodles.

Since I had already done the prep work in the index cards, it was a quick process to draw these in their final (?) form and pass them in the other teacher that is compiling them.

In this versions, the "1", the "C", and the "2" are building the chest and the figure is shocked by the revelation of what's inside.

I really liked it until... (see next upload).

As some of you know, I teach early morning Bible study for high school-aged kids for my church. We refer to it as "Early Morning Seminary".

Part of what we teach involves the learning of scriptures by doctrinal topic.

And part of what we do to teach the students is come up with a little rhyme and simple visual to help them recall the book, chapter, and principle.

I was asked to come up with three sets of rhymes and visuals from scriptures found in the book of 1 Corinthians.

To start, I read each of the scriptures over and over again and came up with the rhymes.

Then, on note cards, I brainstormed the doodle. We had been asked to include the first letter of the book and the number of the chapter into the visual for quick recall.

This image shows the rhyme and the final quick doodle for each of the three.

Over the next three days, I will show the process of each.
