Apples as a fruit are native to Kazakhstan, but have been cultivated in the UK for centuries. The English language even has a word to mean specifically the act of stealing apples from one of our many apple orchards: scrumping. However, one of the most famous apples in British history was not an apple at all; Sir Isaac Newton was famously inspired to develop the theories behind gravity from an apple he witnessed falling from a tree. In actual fact, this 'apple' was fruit from a Tree of Knowledge, one of the many cuttings taken from the original Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil found in the Garden of Eden. These trees are of lesser power than the main tree (as true knowledge of Good and Evil is the ultimate form of Knowledge), but are still highly prized for their ability to imbue whomever eats from them with great insight so that they may achieve their desired goals. After eating of the fruit (superficially resembling an apple) Newton was able to use his great intellect to develop the required mathematics for proving his theory.
Another, much more tragic, use of an apple was from Alan Turing, who died after eating an apple it is believed he deliberately poisoned due to his mistreatment by the UK government. It is possible that the same tree used by Newton was involved in this plan, as his wrathful ghost was discovered decades later, haunting the internet before being exorcised by an official apology from then-Prime Minister Gordon Brown. It is also possible that Turing's spirit simply found itself caught in the World Wide Web, as this happens a lot (this is why dial-up internet sounded like robots screaming at you.)
