SDCC 2015 - Saturday
Started my day once again at the Hall H line being cheery. Joined for a bit by A in line monkage.
Then off to Quick Draw awesome as always.
Then Hallelujah, they had a new play for Voice Actors, because I have heard Snow White every year for years now. This year, they did Wizard of Oz, it was awesome and funny and fun.
Then out to walk about downtown. We visited Geek and Sundry and then to the Dr. Who meetup. It was awesome. We arrived an hour after it stopped, but it was still going strong. There was great music and some rap mashups using the show clips. There were snacks, non-alcoholic drinks, a costume contest with the Cyberman (deservedly) winning, and then Moffet and Capaldi came out. There was fangasming. Good stuff.
Back to the con for the Persons of Interest Panel. Sadly, not well moderated, and the questions were all oddly addressed to the actors for plot questions. Well, except for the actor who plays Mr. Finch, who always answers any question awesomely.
We went from there to the Hall H line (well, it had to happen) to get into the DC tv panel. Very quick bits from the each of the shows. Then… before they showed the Supergirl pilot again the oddest sort of Cirque de Soleil wire act thing. It was weird and seemed to have nothing to do with anything.
Then the pilot again. Still empowering.
During the whole panel I took apart my costume of the day. Which is to say I wore Medusa and I spent the couple of hours, I took apart my hair. Takes awhile.
SDCC 2015 also known as Friday
I headed forth into the world dressed as Wonder Woman holding a sign that declared that the end of the sign was nigh. I headed out to the Hall H line to spread the good word. There were a lot of tired people who slapped my hand and rejoiced as I told them that the end of the line was right there. Plus air conditioning and chairs. As I was getting ready to head in side, the religious protesters showed up.

SDCC2015 - Preview Night
Thoughts on preview night - day one 2015 SDCC
I saw most of the previews. In order,
Supergirl – Very empowering. It practically had I am Woman as the score. Multiple named women talking to each other. Kara was sent by her Mother, who was powerful, intelligent, etc. The issue of the difficulty of being a woman (even a super powered one) coming up. All in a nice fluffy meringue of a story. Plus, they are shipping Supergirl and James Olsen, who is majorly hot. And black. And an adult, so James not Jimmy. And
Teen Titans – We ran away. Shrugs, not a fan of that style of humor.
Blind Spot – Missed the beginning. But the tale of a woman who wakes up in Times Square naked and covered in tattoos with amazing abilities, made me think of John Doe and Kyle XY (the last being funny since the Jamie Alexander was the XX component on Kyle XY), but with the female pulling off doe eyed and yet bad ass at the same time.
Containment – Good ensemble cast. Which they'll need in a story about dread biological weapons requiring the quarantine of the middle of Atlanta. Mixed race cast. Lots of class, social, and just plain shippy in what is sure to be a tension fest. Occasionally unintentional humor while the blood spattered from being zombie, cough, sick, has to be cleaned up with bleach. Not for me, but whatever.
Lucifer – Uh…. where did that come from. I mean, best thing I saw, and I didn't even expect it. I mean okay, Supergirl was more empowering, and lacked at least one awkward racial tension line (course, Lucifer is evil – he also hates children), but Lucifer had me in two minutes. Great sound track. Great look and feel. It's not the comic, which I've read, and was wondering how the heck they were going to pull that off as a tv show. The answer being, they aren't. They are doing something else, but with the same irreverent vibe. Where Lucifer quit hell after untold ages, owns a bar (all from the comic), but is on much more of a… I don't know his arc is different. He straight up tells everyone he's Lucifer Morningstar and that he's immortal and evil and the actor is so charismatic-ally evily charming (or smarmy, or charmingly smarmy) that he pulls it off. His female co-lead is no nonsense and clearly they're going to be paired off (because I've seen a tv show before), but they had good chemistry. Throw dickish angels (I'm beginning to wonder if there are any other kinds) and God wants Lucifer back in hell, demons want Lucifer to not waste his evil time doing anything but evil and… it was charming. We laughed through the entire pilot, waving hands going, what even am I watching. So, you know, it's sure to be cancelled in like three episodes. Still, they'll be fun.
