Do mermaid Dick and princess Kori fanfic
Tides of Destiny
Please is a word, my dear, but here ya' go.
The ocean sparkled under the midday sun, waves lapping gently against the private shore of the Tamaran royal palace. Princess Koriand'r sat alone on the weathered pier, her ornate purple gown pooling around her like a blossoming flower. Her feet dangled just above the water's surface, emerald eyes scanning the horizon as if searching for something—or someone.
"You know," came a melodic voice from below, "most princesses don't risk ruining their fancy dresses by sitting on old wooden docks."
Kori's face lit up with a radiant smile as she leaned forward to see the familiar face emerging from beneath the gentle waves. Dick Grayson, prince of the Atlantean waters, his wet black hair slicked back and crystalline blue eyes twinkling with mischief. With powerful strokes of his magnificent tail—scales shimmering in gradients of midnight blue and cobalt that caught the sunlight like sapphires—he propelled himself closer to the pier.
"Most princesses have not befriended sea princes," Kori countered, her smile growing wider. "And most dresses are not worth the sacrifice of missing our meetings."
Dick laughed, the sound like music carried on the salt-tinged breeze. He hoisted himself up with impressive strength to sit beside her on the pier's edge, his muscular torso glistening with seawater while his powerful tail remained submerged. The contrast between his human upper half and the magnificent fish tail never ceased to fascinate Kori. Where human legs would be, his body transitioned seamlessly into scales, the black and blue pattern unique among his kind.
"I brought you something," Dick said, reaching into a small waterproof pouch tied at his waist. He produced a delicate hairpin fashioned from what appeared to be mother-of-pearl, inlaid with tiny blue stones. "From a shipwreck near the western reef. The craftmanship looked Tamaranian."
Kori gasped softly, taking the offered treasure. "It is! This design—it bears the royal insignia of my ancestors." She turned it over in her hands, marveling at how the centuries underwater had only enhanced its beauty. "How do you always find the most perfect gifts?"
Dick's smile turned sheepish as he rubbed the back of his neck. "I may have spent three days searching that wreck. Bruce thinks I'm becoming obsessed with surface artifacts."
"Bruce worries too much," Kori said, referencing Dick's adoptive father, the stern king of their underwater realm. She carefully pinned the ancient treasure into her flowing red hair. "How does it look?"
"Like it was made for you," Dick replied, his gaze softening as he looked at her. "Though everything looks perfect on you, Star."
A comfortable silence fell between them, broken only by the gentle lapping of waves against the pier and distant calls of seabirds. These stolen moments had become increasingly precious over the past year—a merman prince and a land princess, finding unexpected friendship that had blossomed into something deeper, something neither dared to fully name.
"The royal council is pushing harder for me to choose a suitor," Kori said finally, her voice tinged with frustration. "Three more princes arrived yesterday, each more dreadful than the last. One brought me a jeweled cage with exotic birds inside. As if I would appreciate seeing anything caged."
Dick's jaw tightened, but he kept his voice light. "Did you set them free?"
"Of course," Kori said with a small smile. "The prince was most displeased to see his expensive gift flying toward the horizon. My sister Komand'r found it highly amusing."
Dick chuckled, but it didn't reach his eyes. His powerful tail swished beneath the water, sending ripples across the otherwise calm surface. "And what did your father say about this latest rejection?"
Kori sighed, her shoulders slumping slightly. "He says I cannot keep refusing suitable matches. That Tamaran needs alliances. That I have a duty." She looked out across the ocean, toward the horizon where sea met sky. "Sometimes I wish..."
"What?" Dick prompted gently when she trailed off.
"I wish I could be free. Like those birds." Her gaze turned to him, vulnerability in her emerald eyes. "Or like you, able to disappear beneath the waves when the burdens of royal life become too heavy."
Dick's laugh held no humor this time. "Free? Kori, I'm as trapped as you are. Different cage, same bars." He gestured to his tail. "I can never walk beside you on land. Never dance with you at one of your royal balls. Never be the kind of partner your kingdom would accept."
Impulsively, Kori reached for his hand, her fingers intertwining with his. Despite the differences in their worlds, this simple touch felt like coming home.
"I don't want someone I can dance with," she said firmly. "I want someone who understands what it means to live between worlds. Someone brave and kind and..." she paused, summoning her courage, "someone with eyes as blue as the deepest ocean and a smile that makes me feel like I'm flying."
Dick's expression transformed, hope and longing washing across his features. With gentle fingers, he tucked a strand of her fiery hair behind her ear. "Star, are you saying—"
A distant call from the palace interrupted whatever he was about to say. One of Kori's handmaidens was making her way down the path to the shore, waving frantically.
"Princess! Your father requests your presence immediately! The Gordanian delegation has arrived early!"
Kori let out a frustrated sigh, but nodded acknowledgment to her handmaiden. Turning back to Dick, she found him already sliding back into the water, his magnificent black and blue tail briefly visible before disappearing beneath the surface.
"Same time tomorrow?" he asked, hope evident in his voice despite everything.
Kori nodded, then on impulse, leaned down and pressed a swift kiss to his lips. "I'll find a way, Dick. For us. I promise."
As she rose to her feet, straightening her royal gown, Dick reached up and gently caught her hand one last time.
"Between land and sea, there must be a place for us," he said, his voice carrying a conviction that made her heart soar. "And if there isn't, we'll create one."
With one last squeeze of her hand, he disappeared beneath the waves, a flash of black and blue the only evidence he had been there at all.
Kori touched her lips, still feeling the salt of the sea upon them, and walked back toward the palace with renewed determination. Royal duty might bind her steps, but her heart remained as free as the ocean itself—and just as unstoppable.

I really need someone to have a friendship/romance with a greeting like 'Hi, my old friend' and that that person look and talk at me like Erik Lehnsherr does with Charles Xavier and think/do things for me like Nico di Angelo for Percy Jackson. (Just like a soulmate haha)

Sea Prince (part 1 apparently)
When Percy had a bit (super tiny) of a nervous breakdown two months into his first year at New Rome College, he decides to take his dad up on the offer of a furlough year in Atlantis.
Trying to ignore all his built-up trauma and move on with life was apparently unhealthy. Or so his new Dolphin therapist, Evzen said.
For the first month Percy just...chilled really. He’d go played tag with dolphins, cuddled sharks, got mothered by Amphitrite, hung out with Triton, who was much more amiable and friendly when he wasn’t in the middle of a very stressful war.
It’s at the beginning of the second month, just when he was beginning to feel twitchy when he gets an Iris message from Drew Tanaka of all people.
He answers and finds himself wanting to laugh... a lot. Apparently, the Aphrodite cabin had had a movie night, and Titanic had been the chosen movie. According to “stayed up to late” and “just watched an intense movie and I have feelings” thinking and logic, it made sense to call up Percy the next day to see if he, son of the sea god, could take them down to see the wreck themselves.
His father burst out laughing when he heard the request but agreed to offer his blessing to them, for the dive, so that Percy wouldn’t have to make air bubbles around everyone or worry about depth and pressure or cold.
Triton pretended disinterest but was quick to volunteer to help guard and guide everyone. Honestly, Triton often offered to go with Percy most places more and more.
The trip goes well, with the Aphrodite kids (and a few from some other cabins, one of the Athena boys was obsessed with ships and shipwrecks) and so Percy and Triton led a herd of Hippocampi riding demigods down and down, until they reached the wreck.
One of the Hippocampi served to carry some flood lights that were designed by the Hephaestus cabin to survive in the depths, as well as a few cameras.
Percy could honestly say he’d never imagined taking a selfie with Drew 12,000ish feet below the surface. But it was fun.
The pictures especially sparked something in Percy, and at first it was Drew (who had informed him he could call her anytime) in such an unsubtle bid at flirting that even he picked up on it. Triton had scowled but Drew had giggled and told him he could call too with a knowing look in her eye that Percy honestly didn’t get but seemed to make Triton feel better.
So, he’d started at first taking pictures of neat stuff and various aquatic friends and then sending the packets via Hermes Express and often Drew would Iris Message him when she got them, and they’d chat about them. (She seemed to actually enjoy hearing about the antics of dolphins and turtles.)
It wasn’t until he asked if Drew wanted to send pictures of her life that things got awkward briefly. Apparently, her dad had just recently remarried and bot her dad and stepmom seemed terribly uninterested in Drew or her presence in their life anymore.
Percy found himself asking if Drew wanted to come visit, hang out with him, get to meet his new friends he’d made in his dad’s court. Aikaterine a mermaid who reminded him so very much of the Stoll brothers. She loved playing (friendly) pranks and Percy didn’t mind being her accomplice. Cymatolege, a nereid and one of Amphitrite’s many sisters who would join him when he played with the dolphins and sharks. Speaking of; a great white shark that Percy had named Cuddles, as his goal in life seemed to be swim, eat, and get Percy to cuddle him. Triton of course and Percy was very pleased that they’d gotten so close, it was nice to have another half-brother that didn’t want to kill him. (or decorate rooms with skulls)
Drew seemed surprised at first, but them agreed, telling him she’d also need to check out the Atlantis fashion scene. After a quick talk with his dad, it was agreed Drew would come down the next week.
Three days before she called him up looking thoughtful. When he asked her what was up, she told him Reyna had come by camp half-blood, having decided to retire from her role as Praetor, but finding herself at rather loose ends now that she had no specific role to fill or duties to perform.
Percy was slightly surprised that Reyna had opened up to Drew, who he knew had been a bit of a mean girl not that long ago, she seemed to read his mind because she laughed and told him that she’d grown up, a bit and that the mean girl thing hadn’t really been all that fun.
Getting back to the subject at hand, she asked if Reyna could join them and Percy agreed. If anyone needed a break from responsibilities and the chance to have fun it was Reyna.
(Now if his dad would stop chuckling and calling him a chip of the old block with “all his lady friends” he would be perfectly happy).
Amphitrite just laughed at Percy’s aggrieved expression every time Poseidon brought it up, while Triton looked a cross between pleased and annoyed.
