I keep imagining Uma's crew as a pod of merfolk, lately.
Like, we so often go "mermaid Uma, pirate Harry," but actually making Harry and Gil mermen with mermaid Uma offers such fun opportunities.
So, I’m sitting on the bus listening to What’s My Name, and I had a thought
Where did this idea of a call and response come from? Like, in-universe, how did this start?
It’s a running theme throughout the films and books that If Uma asks “what’s my name?” The crew responds enthusiastically with “Uma!”. Also, the musical numbers are diegetic, so the crew just off the cuff starts singing the call and response as a chorus while Uma and Harry adlib the rest.
I wanna know the story behind that kind of loyalty, especially since it’s implied at the end of It’s Going Down that the crew repeating her name might give Uma power(?)
Descendants textposts that sort of explain the fucked up plot of this franchise.
Bonus: the thesis of the entire trilogy--
Part 18
Uma: Jellyfish have survived for 600,000 years without brains Harry: A ray of hope for Gil
descendants rise of red would have worked so much better as a tv show rather than a film tbh
