Similar to my thoughts to my thoughts about the barrier coming down. I think it would have good if the movies had actually SHOWN how much Ben had planned for the VK's to be in auradon.
Like did he have any safety measures in place? For everyone including the VK's. So they are not accused of something they genuinely didn't do. As harshly as audrey says it her concerns about the VK's are somewhat valid.
Because technically although they were pushed into it the VK's DID come with a plan to cause harm to auradon…
Did he have plans for if the VK's acted up? How much were they monitored? Did they have a curfew? Or ankle bracelets that alerted Ben to them leaving campus without it being cleared?
Because if that had been the case Ben would have known that the VK's had been to the museum the first night they were there.
Were there different levels of what would happen if they did something wrong? (the harshest being been sent back to the Isle) Was this explained to the VK's on their first day?
Because the way the movies play it really seems like Ben had no safety plans in place. He was just placing a HEAP of BLIND TRUST, in the hope the VK's would just behave and go to bed like good kiddies
If it wasn't for the fact that Mal and the others came to have reasons to LIKE auradon...Ben's program would have gone exactly the way his parents had feared...
And we are lead to believe by the movies that Ben just DOESN'T THINK of that.
Might be throwing myself in the line of fire here but I feel like I need to say something
I've noticed some posts floating around here where people are straight up saying Audrey sexually assaulted Ben?!
First off- you need to be very careful when throwing around words like that because that is some serious shit to accuse people off
Second, Ben is only shown to be uncomfortable around Audrey TWO times and none of those times has to do with her touching him.
Meeting the Vks in D1, Audrey grabs him slightly as a signal to- mostly Evie as she's the one "interested" in Ben first. Here- while Ben does seem uncomfortable it's NOT Because Audrey is touching him. It's because even the most dense of people can sense the awkward tension between Evie and Audrey. Also Ben is NOT the one who pulls away from Audrey's touch, between scenes you can even see how he's holding her hand in BOTH of his. FG Is the one who pulls their hands apart in that scene and after that it is very clear that the reason Ben is uncomfortable is because of Audrey and Mal beefing, NOT because Audrey is touching him, he even laughs awkwardly when Audrey and Mal are snappy with each other- I think that's a clear indicator to what is making him uncomfortable
When she was possessed in D3. See that word people? POSSESSED! Also- Ben's FIRST instinct when he sees Audrey like that is to TRY AND HELP HER. Bare in mind everyone, HE ASKED HER OUT FIRST Confirmed
I'll say it before and I'll say it again, the way some people go out of their way to make Audrey seem like some irredeemable monster is just- straight up wrong
She is a TEENAGER and in D1 she is a CHILD
Yes I know by D3 she has probably had time to turn 18 but you can't put an 18 year old to the same standard as a person in- let's say their twenties
Do I still think she did a lot of things wrong? Yes
Do I think she should've gone to therapy instead of letting her anger and bitterness fester like this? Also yes
But please, stop villainizing children
That is- LITERALLY the message of Descendants
How do you like me now, Bennyboo? 👑 Audrey in DESCENDANTS 3 (2019)
Sarah is so good as Audrey…like I wanted her to stay villain
SARAH WAS AMAZING AT BEING EVIL!!!!!
audrey should have STAYED QoM! It was so effortless for her!
Pink hair also really suits her and that look is really good. But I also liked how effortlessly they played off each other in this scene. You could tell the actors had a lot of trust in one another because these two were way more touchy than Ben was with say Uma.
that comeback is simply iconic
KING BEN!!!
Same person btw
look at my silly goober 😭 Gil has such a special place in my heart I do not play about him
I really wanted some more interaction between Gil & Ben to be honest. Gil, the son of Gaston interacting more with Belle's son? It'd be so interesting to me.
That would have been so much fun.
10000%!!! also Gil & Belle interactions pleaseeee
yeah no these stupid climate zones will not make sense TwT I'm trying to find a way of making it okay-ish, but atp we gotta chalk some stuff up to magic
maybe they don't live on a floating ball in space (what shape would be your fav contender XD #team-even-more-misshapen-oval-than-earth-is)
actually... hold on, that actually WOULD solve some stuff.... hmmmm.......
also, what is the most frustrating thing about the canon map for YOU guys? I might be overlooking stuff 🧐 gimme your ideassssss
bring back tumblr ask culture let me. bother you with questions and statements
reblog to let people know it's ok to bother you with questions and statements
i dont even care that im, like, deeply inherently biased because i watched it when i was 16 years old and was never the same . but chillin’ like a villain is unironically cool. a girl in a godawful blue wig and three dudes dressed in the most hilariously tacky studded leather ensembles you’ve seen in your life sing a smooth genre piece about how class disparity creates culture disparity between the impoverished and oppressed and those in power
the only bad part is when ben starts to rap
me on my way
it has to be said
Descendants textposts that sort of explain the fucked up plot of this franchise.
Bonus: the thesis of the entire trilogy--
Part 18
MASSIVELY overdue for a really good week yall
A trope that gets to me: 'guard dog' character and their partner who are both fully aware of it and honestly don't care/kind of like it. Someone says "call your guard dog off" and their partner does call them off. That person, their 'guard dog', is someone who is unreservedly, irrefutably loyal to them. Someone undoubtedly dangerous who is willing to kill, to maim, to obey, simply because of their love for one another. There's no manipulation involved— it is loyalty, brutal, dogged loyalty. And it goes both ways.
do you think Ella never told Chad and Chloe about her stepmother’s cruelty? or her stepsisters’?
rewatching the scene where Chloe meets Lady Tremaine, she seems to genuinely believe she can appeal to Lady Tremaine by taking accountability and being polite
but Chloe isn’t that naïve. she was raised off of “good vs. bad”, witches being villains and knights being valiant. she’s a history nerd who knows her fairy tales
from my recollection, Chloe doesn’t act that way with the young villains. she stands up against James Hook instead of trying to play the mediator. Chloe knows who Captain Hook is, what he’s done, and she treats him as the man that is going to become that.
She treats Lady Tremaine like she hasn’t heard any of that. Or if she has — and she most likely has, everyone else knows — she doesn’t believe it. Maybe because Cinderella only spoke about her stepfamily with empathy and forgiveness. Because that’s just the kind of person Ella grew up to be, and wants to raise her children
No because the Beast is the real villain of the Descendants franchise. You’re telling me he not only brought all of the dead villains back to life after they’d already been defeated, repeatedly putting all of Auradon at risk, but he also exiled them to an island to live in poverty, along with their innocent children? And he never thought that this might be inhumane, not to mention dangerous and a generally bad idea?? What’s he on????
the fact that its canon that he is unable to take accountability is insane TT especially blaming Ben for the whole fiasco with Queen Leah....... like...... "I was afraid something like this would happen" 1. you are still King if you really cared you could have simply stopped it 2. your son is 16 pls you could have helped him and given him advice on how to prevent this #A+Parenting 3. THIS is what you were AFRAID of? not a coup, not murderous intent from the kids, just the most obvious conequence that they would not get along well?? Why not warn the guests before the party? Why not help with the fallout? Nahhh
also bro what do you mean the moment your 16 year old suggests a bad idea (from Beast's perspective) you just... let him do it anyways?? "Sure I hate villains and their children and would never in a million years consider granting them mercy but my teenage son suggested it so I guess i'll tolerate it" ??????????
"I suppose their children are innocent" YOU SUPPOSE???? The possibility of this has not crossed your mind once? Or worse, it probably has after they found out the villains were having kids, but he justified it through the "villain kids can only be born bad" rhetoric
I thought he was ride or die for the whole concept, being a founding member of the Isle and all, but he's unable to die on any hill; too afraid of consequences, he takes the easy way out by "staying neutral" and letting others take the fall 😒 yeahhhhh sure thing man
