So I recently got into bookbinding and I'm finally successfully done with binding River Song's diary. It's the first I ever did (well I've been doing two books at the same time and the other one was finished first but that happens to look terrible lmao).
I liked the sewing part best, and making the cover was probably the worst. Mainly because it's been hard to even draw and cut out the tardis shape (husband did the cutting part I was afraid I stab myself lmao). Moreover it was way harder to glue the leather into the crevices of the tardis shape than I expected. Like WAY harder.
Also I put a red bookmark in it, so it's not 100% accurate (also the blue leather is darker than it should've been but I don't want to paint it and I like it this way tbh 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️)
Overall I think it turned out fairly well, I'm not sure yet what I'm going to do with it. I may use it as a scrapbook or something idk yet.
Also I used sealemon's tutorial on YouTube, so much thank u for that!! ❤ I bought a standard bookbinding kit from aliexpress for a very cheap price and honestly it was totally worth it. I guess the quality isn't like premium or something but for a beginner it's more than enough. It included all the tools needed, like threads, needles, "bone" folders (probably made of plastic lol) , a hole puncher, scissors and a ruler so I can very much recommend it to beginners, even for those who just want to try out bookbinding. The leather I used was a scrappiece I got from my grandmother, it was once probably a jacket. And I bought the paper from a craft store it's probably a 120g one for drawing, I wanted to use something thicker than a standard printer paper.
