One of Malee’s goals in life was to have her photos featured in a big art show and know what it feels like. Not for the praise or to show off but because it’s always been one of her dreams. Sneaking and hearing what people have to say about her work would be kind of cool as well. Somehow she always ended up at a museum, sometimes not even focusing on anything. “I know arts all about interpretation of the individual but I wonder if the people behind the work ever here people interpret their stuff and hate it?” She wasn’t talking to anyone in particular, maybe even more so to herself. Even though she was kind of in the art world, she couldn’t always come up with interesting words to say about people's work. “I once broke something in an art show and never told anyone,” She still felt the guilt to that day.

trigger warnings: Manipulation
Money and status are toxic, they taint everything and everyone it touches; that’s something that the Beatrix Specter learned. It was a slow lesson, but a lesson nonetheless. Everything started once Doctor Michael married Mia Winter, an incredibly well-known lawyer. As the love story goes, the two married and their wealth combined. It used to not be what they wanted, the only thing that was on their minds, but as started before-- money and status taint everyone it touches.
Mia used to just want a family: to sit on her porch, watch her children ride their bikes, help with any scraped knees, and then go inside to help bake cookies. The American dream. That just wasn’t a priority, nor was it in the cards. Instead when Mia and Michael had their first child, Beatrix, they were just too caught up with the idea of staying on the top and making money to pay much attention to her.
Poor Beatrix, she didn’t even know that her life wasn’t normal. Even when she started school, she was surrounded by other kids whose lives were actually quite similar to her own. So, in her definition, being watched over by nannies and the television screen, taking care of her younger sister... they were just normal aspects of life. As Beatrix got older, she kept up appearances: great grades, dressed to the nines, became head cheerleader, even participated in all available charity events in the area. She had to keep up with the Specter name! Every suggestion Beatrix’s parents gave, she grasped, knowing full and well that nothing was hinted at on accident. She even dated the boys her parents name dropped while she was in high school. All decisions were already made.
In college, that didn’t change. Beatrix tried to keep up with appearances and please her parents with every single “choice” that was made. Those choices included who she would spend the rest of her life with. That man was a guest speaker who visited her school. A famous lawyer turned author named Barry Turner. He also happened to have been well acquainted with Beatrix’s parents. That winter break, a simple comment was made by Mia: Being married to somebody like Barry Turner would have you set for life. So, that’s what Beatrix did. Beatrix knew that she was beautiful and charming, so she used that to her advantage when she reached out to the older man. It was far too easy, really. While her family was quite flabbergasted at first, they never stated any sort of disapproval, even when Beatrix dropped out of school to focus all of her energy on Barry. The pair was married for nearly nine years.
Barry would have said that the marriage was bliss, but Beatrix thought otherwise. She felt trapped, suffocated. She would look in the mirror and not recognize her reflection, then again, she never did. In her almost thirty years of life, she had never made a proper decision on her own. She realized that her whole life was dictated by her parent’s drive to keep up their status. They wanted to continue making money without any breaks, so that forced her to parent her own sister. They wanted to make sure that all her friends came from the same circle as she so everyone she socialized with were as well off and well known as her own family. They wanted to make it so Beatrix’s future was similar to theirs so she was directed to marry someone she didn’t even love. What else was Beatrix to do but finally call things off?
It was a tearful parting, one that involved many drinks and screaming, but the divorce papers soon came. As soon as all was said and done, Beatrix ran. She wanted to be as far from her current life as possible. She even began to go by Trix. She found herself in Seattle, picked up the first jobs she could that would make something that was somewhat livable, and well, is trying to figure out just who she actually is.

Since Elizabeth was young she always kept to herself, she always felt more comfortable with her own company. You could almost always see her with her nose in a book. She loved to take the time to learn and understand as much of the world as she could. If there was a chance to step out of her shell or step back and observe she’d always chose that latter. It was the perfect fit for her family who was just her and two parents who were very busy surgeons. She didn’t cause them any trouble or even kick up a fuss when she had to stay with family or have baby sitters some late nights or early mornings. This could cause most kids to resent their parents but if anything she always looked up to her parents. They were saving lives everyday, to say she admired it would be an understatement.
It wasn’t until she got to middle school that she really tried to step out of her shell and find herself. She wanted to be more than just the wallflower. With some hard work and encouragement from her parents she not only opened herself up to make more friends but she also found things she was passionate about. Eliza found that she always loved helping others. Taking any chance she could to step up for someone, be in their corner when others wouldn’t. Even if she still didn’t have much confidence in herself, she gave all of that to others. Just from middle school to high school she became a completely different person. At least from people who knew her when she was younger.
It may not have been a surprise from others considering her parents but it was a big moment for her to finally realize she wanted to be a surgeon too. It was the perfect way to use her knowledge and love for helping others. She wanted to leave the mark that her parents did on the world. Of course her parents were as supportive as they could be, filling her in on all the pros and cons of the career. But nothing seemed to scare her away, once Eliza was set on something she wouldn’t give up on it. She put all her time and energy in high school into doing the best she could with her education and taking any volunteering opportunity at the hospital. Elizabeth wanted to make a name for herself, she didn’t want to be known just for her parents accomplishments.
It finally felt like she made it when she got accepted into Stanford for her bachelors degree. It felt like all of her dreams were coming true, if things continued to go well she would get accepted into their medical program too. Although in the midst of all of this excitement she realized she wasn’t giving herself the chance to experience life outside of work and school. So she tried her hand at dating and going out although it never worked out in her favor. No matter what things would always end quickly because Eliza’s priorities was always in her career. So after a few tries she put it on the backburner.
Although that all changed when feelings sparked for her best friend Serena. It was a lot of moments of doubt, worrying that things could never happen. One day during her senior year of medical school that all changed. They started dating and things kept up going up from there. For once Eliza felt like heard, loved and appreciated in a way she never knew was possible. In about a years time they were married and filled with hope for the future. For once it felt like Eliza could have love, family and her career. She had someone there for her for graduation and where she’d be matched for her residency for general surgery.
Not long after they found out she was placed in Seattle Washington at Seattle Grace, a hospital she’s had her eye on for awhile. The couple moved there shortly after they got the news. They were thriving off of the excitement of this news and knew they were ready to start a new chapter of their life. After they got adjusted and found a home they started to discuss having a family. Eliza couldn’t help but be worried that she could end up like her parents, far to busy with work to be around. But like always Serena knew how to comfort her fears. Not long after they welcomed Winnie into the world and it has been wonderful since.
Now six years later things continue to get better, things were falling together. Elizabeth finally completed her residency about a year ago, feeling more motivated than ever. It felt crazy for her to believe she came from a kid who only found comfort in stories could be saving lives everyday while happily married with a family. Everyday she finds herself waking up every morning wanting to pinch herself to believe its all real. She can’t wait to see what else in store.

tw: injury
Was born and raised in the little village of Llanbedrog in North Wales to two loving parents, Helena and David. Rhys has three brothers, one older and two younger.
He spent most of his childhood years causing chaos and getting muddy on the family farm or the beach.
When he hit high school he became kind of obsessed with rugby and decided early on he wanted to play for Wales, to take them to the World Cup in his twenties. Unfortunately an accident in his final year of high school that left him with several broken bones and unconscious meant that he had to rethink his whole plan.
It didn’t take long for a thirst to escape to take over and he started applying for colleges overseas. Finally he was accepted to New York Medical College and he made the move without a second thought. That’s where his life really began.
He drank his way through his first year. Hangovers became part of the daily routine, as did waking up next to people he barely recognised.
By 3/4 of the way through his second year he finally began to focus and chose to specialise in paediatrics.
Relationships really didn’t happen for him, but he was extremely good at lapping up any attention he got. Man-whore really is a very kind way of putting it.
At twenty-five he found himself with a job at Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital in Manhattan. He loved it, seemed to thrive there and for over three years, too. But then he grew restless and after a years debate, decided that perhaps a move somewhere else in the country was on the cards.
Only days after moving, he received a phone call out of nowhere telling him that he was a dad. She was already five, the product of a long standing friends with benefits arrangement with a woman in his forth year. It didn’t take much for him to fall in love with Elena once he hopped a flight back to the East coast, spending several days with her.
As soon as he was back in Seattle, he set about doing his home up. Her existence really gave him something to focus on.
Now that Elena’s 15 she visits regularly.
HEADCANONS.
Rhys is a major “lad”. He’ll spend night after night at the bar drinking beer, playing pool, watching sports on the big screen tv.
Upon moving to Seattle and having more space he started to create a bit of a backyard farm. His cockerel, Buddy, frequently wakes up the neighbours and he has a kind of love/hate relationship with them. He also has three hens, a pig and a goat. Oh, then there’s the cat, Storm, who moved over from NYC with him.
Absolutely loves to garden. When he’s not in the backyard tending to the animals, you can usually find him elbow deep in dirt in his front yard instead.
He’s still a major man-whore and it probably won’t change any time soon.
Despite his casualness with romantic relationships, etc. he’s a very fierce friend and cares deeply for everyone he’s close to. He’d do absolutely anything for them.

Name: Harper Allegra Norwood
Age: 37

Gender/Pronouns: cisfemale & she/her
Hometown: Cape Town, South Africa
Length of time in Seattle: 21 years
Occupation: Owner/manager of Norwood’s restaurant
Faceclaim: Jessica Parker Kennedy
Trigger Warnings: Death (including death in combat), homophobia, miscarriage
Harper Norwood was born Harper Rivera in the city of Cape Town, South Africa. Her mother was a Cape Town native, while her father was an American man who served in the Army. Harper’s father died in action when Harper was barely two years old. Harper’s mother, who was five months pregnant at the time, went into premature labor when she learned of her husband’s death. Harper’s mother died as a result of the miscarriage, leaving the little girl without any family. The Norwoods were the best friends of Harper’s parents, and were named her guardians in her father’s will. Childless, the couple took Harper in as their own, even going so far as to formally adopt her and change her last name. Wanting Harper to have a fresh start in life away from the place where she’d lost her family, Harper’s adoptive father requested he be reassigned. Less than a year later, the Norwoods moved to Auckland. As a result, Harper speaks with a unique accent that is a blend of South African and Kiwi. People often ask her about it, or ask her where she’s from. Her reply is usually planet Earth, because its easier than explaining her background and more fun to watch them turn red.
While they were living in New Zealand, the Norwoods discovered they were going to have a child. Despite now having a biological child of their own, they did their best to make sure Harper never felt any less loved than she would have if she was related to them by blood. The Norwoods remained in New Zealand until Harper was nine, after which the family relocated to South Korea. The move to South Korea was a huge cultural shift for everyone involved. Harper struggled to learn the language and customs of the country. Added to the fact that she was entering her teenage years, meant this was a difficult time for Harper. She often acted out, sneaking out past curfew and having her first taste of alcohol when she was only 12 years old. Harper’s family deemed her new friends a bad influence. As soon as he was able, Harper’s father requested another transfer, this time back to the Norwoods’ home of the United States. The family settled in Tacoma, Washington. There, Harper met her first (but certainly not last) girlfriend. She eventually came out to her parents as pansexual when she was 14. Although her mother was very accepting, it is something her father is not very supportive of. He hasn’t disowned her and they are still on speaking terms, but he prefers not knowing about her love life.
When Harper’s father officially retired from the Army two years later, the entire family moved to Seattle. There, her mother and father opened a restaurant (simply called Norwood’s). Harper chose to major in hospitality at Washington State University. Not just because she wanted to help her parents with the family business, but because she wanted her father to be proud of her again. Upon graduating from university, Harper returned to Seattle. She quickly took over running the restaurant, working as the front-of-house manager and overseeing the day-to-day operations. Her job mostly involves making sure the customers are happy and that Norwood’s is turning a profit. Her father retired from his civilian job roughly a year ago, leaving the restaurant in Harper’s capable hands.
Harper works hard, but she loves to party just as hard. Most nights when she isn’t working, she can be found in one of Seattle’s bars. She’s had a string of short relationships, but never anything that has lasted very long. Commitment is something she’s not particularly good at, both because her job takes up so much of her time and because she hates the idea of introducing anybody to her father. Although she identifies as pansexual, she is mostly attracted to women.
Name: Daphne Giselle Palmer-Slade
Age: 33
Birthday: June 11, 1988
Gender/Pronouns: cisfemale & she/her
Hometown: New Orleans, Louisiana
Length of time in Seattle: 6 months
Occupation: Police Detective
Faceclaim: Claire Holt
Trigger Warnings: Car accident, death, kidnapping, organized crime
Daphne Giselle Palmer was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. She had a fraternal twin sister, born approximately ten minutes before her. Her parents were part of New Orleans’ high society, coming from two families who had been in the city since it was founded. As such, being a Palmer came with a certain amount of privilege. But what Daphne didn’t know was that her parents were involved in the city’s criminal underworld, doing business with some very dangerous people.
Shortly after Daphne turned 18, she graduated high school and was majoring in English literature at Tulane University. She and her sister had recently moved into their own house just off campus and were living their best college lives. But one night Daphne came home to find the house wrecked. Everything was upended and she found a ransom note. Daphne immediately called her parents, who told her to keep her mouth shut and not call the police. Daphne’s parents quickly and quietly paid the ransom for their other daughter. But to the family’s horror, Daphne’s sister was never returned. To this day, Daphne believes something went wrong with the crime and her sister was murdered so that she couldn’t identify her kidnappers. She deeply regrets not calling the police, believing that if she’d ignored her parents and gotten the cops involved, her sister would still be alive.
Daphne cut ties with parents shortly after her sister’s disappearance, blaming their criminal activities for her sister’s disappearance. Afraid she would be next if she didn’t make some life changes, she moved across the country to California. Settling in San Francisco, she began working as a waitress to put herself through university. While attending San Francisco State University, she changed her major from English literature to criminal justice. She wanted to prevent what happened to her sister from ever happening to anybody else. After graduating from university, she joined the San Francisco Police Department. After a few years as an officer, she worked her way up to detective. She hopes that by helping other people, she can make up for her role in her sister’s untimely disappearance.
About two years ago, Daphne was working a case when she met a young woman who was a witness to a crime. The woman had recently learned she was pregnant, shortly after moving to San Francisco from her hometown of Seattle. She felt alone and scared. Daphne formed a friendship with her, which ultimately turned into something more. The two quickly fell in love. When the other woman gave birth to a little girl named Danielle, Daphne adopted the child and the three became a little family. A marriage between the two women followed soon after. They had a quiet ceremony: just the two of them, their daughter, and a justice of the peace. But when her wife died tragically in a car accident six months ago, Daphne felt alone in the world again. She packed up her belongings and moved herself and her daughter to her wife’s hometown.
Daphne joined the Seattle Police Department as a detective. She and her daughter currently share a small two-bedroom apartment near the edge of the city. Danielle is now almost 18 months old, and is the light of Daphne’s life. She’s made efforts to reach out to her wife’s family, believing that Danielle deserves to know that part of her family tree. Especially because Daphne has sworn she will never allow her own parents to have contact with the little girl, for the child’s safety. As far as she is concerned, her parents no longer exist. Still, Daphne longs for a family she can rely on when she needs support and guidance. She hopes to find that with her late wife’s family, since she knows she will never find it with her own.

BIOGRAPHY
trigger warnings: car accident, death
Hugo was born and raised in Seattle. He had a simple and very happy childhood. His parents were the kindest souls and they made sure that Hugo as well as his sister knew that they were loved and cared for, the kids both growing up just as kind and generous as their parents. Apart from having to face some bullies at school and being quite mediocre when it came to studies, there wasn’t much for Hugo to complain. He was one of those people who saw the light even in the darkest of times. That was of course, easy to do when he had little to worry, but Hugo did his very best to keep that up even when the darkest times did come.
Four years ago, when his sister was away at college, Hugo and his parents were in a car crash. Driving back from what had been a dinner out and a pleasant evening, the Mendoza parents would not have expected that day to be their last but it unfortunately was. Hugo too was hurt in the accident, and hospitalized, but he managed to survive. He woke up to find that his parents were dead and his sister had returned, taking care of their funeral and holding it together to the best of her ability. Perhaps he could have coped better if his sister was supportive but by the time Hugo woke, her grief had turned into anger towards her brother, blaming him for driving them to their deaths and that was the last he had seen of her.
It took Hugo everything to get back on his feet. At that point, he had lost his entire family, his parents dead and his sister vowing never to see him again. He spent months even after he was physically alright, trying to get back to his normal life without much success spending almost all his time cooped up at home with his cats. It took him lot of therapy and lot of his friends to help him get back to his life. Once he had managed that though, Hugo never looked back, turning his focus to his café and his volunteer work at the animal hospital. He hasn’t still seen his sister since but he hopes that will come back some day and meanwhile went back to being the kind and generous son his parents always wanted him to be despite how lonely he was since the night he had lost his entire family.
Since Jackie was young she radiated joy and compassion, doing anything she could to put a smile on someone’s face. Being able to do something as simple as that would always bring her endless amounts of joy. In her eyes she felt like everyone deserved a chance to be reminded of their traits that may just be overlooked. This lead to her being able to make friends or to charm just about anyone she meets. As she got older not only was she kind and charming she became quite adventurous. She was curious about the world and the people around her. This lead to Jackie going to quite a few parties and not making the best decisions or mixing with the best people. Some weekends she would go anywhere she could just to have a good time and forget any responsibilities she had. Luckily enough her parents never found out about this. Jackie felt like they didn’t need to worry about their perfect daughter breaking a few rules. They had enough on their plate and she loved being the apple of their eyes.
Apart from always wanting to have fun one thing that always brought her back to earth was dancing. She performed in shows, took part in pageants when she was younger and even got to the point where she would teach dance classes at a local dance studio. Jackie had done everything from jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop, lyrical, and even dipped her toe in break dancing just name a type of dance and she has probably done it. It all started when she was four years old when her parents signed her up for ballet classes after she was positive she wanted to become a ballerina. It was a perfect fit for a family who had a passion for performing on her mothers and fathers side.
It was in college when she really started to thrive, all of the things she tried in college paid off. Her years of performing in shows, dance classes, cheerleading, competitions prepared her for the competitive and hard working world she longed to join. Her need to do a little of everything even came with her too. During her college years not only was she a student but outside of that she taught classes, did multiple shows and even started to upload videos of her classes and choreography. Before she had even graduated she started to make quite the name for herself. After graduating she got a few ensemble parts in shows, showing off not only her dance experience but her singing talents as well. Her desire for adventure and learning more even helped her get jobs all over the country.
One of her accomplishments she was most proud of was being able to tour and share her passions around the country. In the midst of getting her name out there and going to any audition that she could she got a role as an ensemble member in A Chorus Line. A special tour that was putting on shows along the west coast. One the last leg of the tour was when her life turned around. It was their last week in Seattle when she felt a striking pain in her knee that made her collapse onstage. The night went by in a flash and next thing she knew she woke up in the hospital with the most terrible news. She tore her ACL.
That news completely changed her, she hid away for a few months at first. Not even wanting to handle the idea of going back home yet. She had to deal with pausing her career for all the doctors appointments, the surgeries and soon the physical therapy sessions. It wasn’t until she got out of her cast that she got the confidence to start going out more again. Anyone that she did meet in town, especially the ones she first met when she arrived from the tour, she tried to talk to mainly over text. But she knew she could only hide away for so long, she had to realize it was okay to get help and reach out to others. Part of her also hoped that she would be back to normal not long after the cast was removed.
There was hope at first, a month into physical therapy she found out she would recover if she kept it up. And she did. She was putting all her time and energy into recovering and getting better but she could still only do half of what she could do before. Yet a year later she could only do half of what she did before. Even if the doctors said it was normal it didn’t shake the fear building up inside of her. She was worried she might have did something wrong, that the results could change. The fears haunted her constantly, but she deep down she didn’t let it shake her determined nature. She tried to dive into teaching and choregraphing, hoping that it would give her a smooth transition. This could just be a chapter in her story that she has to overcome. She is holding on hope that this is just a hurdle to overcome before she gets to her happy ending.

- When Jackie was younger she almost always went by Jacqueline but as she has gotten older she fell in love with the nickname of Jackie. Since she was in middle school she has gone by that nickname. While she is not against anyone calling her by her name it is typically one that is reserved to her family.
- She is very fashionable and at times glamorous. Her goal is to catch peoples eyes and to make peoples jaw drop. She mostly wears either tight dresses or skirts to help flatter her. Along with crop tops and almost always wears heels. Jackie loves to pair these looks with her signature red lip.
