My favourite possible interpretation of Gil-Galad's relationship with Elrond, is that the latter is simultaneously his minstrel, herald, closest advisor, personal attendant, best friend, unwilling heir and closest remaining family member, and it's not always possible to determine in which capacity Elrond is acting at any given moment.

They're ridiculously codependent (if more so on Gil-Galad's side, it's just because Elrond has already forcibly had to learn how to cope with the absence of his closest kinsman)

You know what if no one else is going to say it I will.  

The Rings of Power show is extremely racist, Eurocentric, and xenophobic.  And probably homophobic, too.  

A brief list (there are probably more):

British men cast to play main heroes in a nation (inaccurately) based off of Greece and Rome, instead of people from those areas or descended from people from those areas.

Pharazôn being a villainous character and having an Irish accent, while all the “good” characters either have lighter Irish accents or are English

The only black Elf being Silvan, a group famously called “more dangerous and less wise.”  (The 19th century called.  They want their “white man’s burden” propaganda back.)

The fact that Sauron is probably going to be queercoded.

The fact that all of the powerful characters save one are played by Northern Europeans/English people.

If I wanted to see various groups stereotyped and mischaracterized I’d just go outside.  Also, side note: making Míriel (played by a woman of some African descent I think—please correct me if I’m wrong) the Ruling Queen does nothing progressive at all.  It just assures she’ll be blamed for Sauron’s rise :).  Yeah.  The black woman takes the fall.  Yayyyy progress.

Sudden meta realisation: people whinged that Galadriel wore armour with the star of Fëanor in Rings of Power, but given she arrived in Numenor with only a shift and Finrod’s dagger, it’s a safe bet that the armour she wears back to Middle-Earth was not originally her armour, bc:

1. Even though Numenorean smiths are good, that armour’s plainly elven-made, or at least elven-styled, and probably pulled from the Numenorean Royal vaults, unless Elendil has a Faithful priest-hole/elvish otaku shrine somewhere in his house, which would be comedy GOLD.

2. If Galadriel’s armour did come from Numenor’s Royal vaults, the Star of Fëanor makes perfect sense, because who would be more likely to both have relics from the War of the Jewels/War of Wrath, a sentimental fondness for the Feanorian faction (or at least two of the Soms of Fëanor), and enough goodwill/clout with the Sindar of Lindon to lay claim to items associated with them than Elros Tar-Minyatur?

(I just have kidnap fam feelings, okay, and refuse to believe Elros wouldn’t have acknowledged his homocidal adoptive dads while he was alive)

On the subject of bonkers insane Tyelpë AUs, there's the one where I can't even bother explaining how Celebrimbor gets teleported from the siege of Eregion to half a millennium later with full knowledge of what will happen in the canon timeline and obviously decides the logical thing to do is to stop Sauron from causing the fall of Númenor with the power of friendship.
