My lady-of-leisure days of summer are officially over.  My school opened up to teachers and staff on August 1st so I’m back at it and getting my classroom whipped into shape, attending meetings, and starting back to school PD.  School starts August 14th!  

Sadly, I won’t be on here as much, but I have been adding a lot to my queue.  I’ll just have to catch up in the evenings.

I GOT A NEW TEACHING POSITION AS A SECOND GRADE TEACHER NEXT YEAR

AND I AM SO EXCITED!!!!! It's a big difference from the 5th and 6th graders I'm used to but I've been wanting to teach lower grade for 5 years now and I FINALLY GET TO AND IM SO EXCITED AND JUST NEEDED TO SHARE WITH YOU ALL!!!!

Sometimes I really do believe that children are just small, drunk adults. Yesterday, a couple of my 2nd graders asked me if there was such thing as a bread sandwich. I ask them to clarify and their response was basically “You know, a slice of bread between 2 more slices of bread?”

Where do children come up with these things?

The one con I’ve found of working with 2nd graders vs with working with 4th and 5th graders is that NO ONE seems to understand when I say “Please cover your mouth.”

I was working with small groups yesterday and at least 4 kids coughed right in my face.

Now my throat was already scratchy and now my nose is running like a faucet. And of course I’m being observed by the principal today. Lord beer me strength 😩
