6: What is the ugliest language?

ahh, nothing rally comes to my mind immediately. I definitely find czech very funny, unintentionally so, and the southern slavic ones to be rather hard-sounding for my ears, but that doesn’t really count, along with my irrational prejudice against korean. people tend to say german sounds harsh, but I don’t find it so, and that also doesn’t qualify it as an ‘ugly’ language.

the other way to answer that question is to be cheesy and say the only ugly language is the ‘language of hate’

7: Have you ever made up your own language?

if I did, I can’t remember now. I definitely had at least two cryptic alphabets in different times of my life, the most prominent one being after watching lotr while being the impressionable 13yo that I was

20: What language is overrated?

I mean, everybody says french is the language of love, but have you seen the Taxi movies.

☾ : favourite word from your language

ah, I’ve never given it much thought. I think my most favourite words are the ones that sound the most ‘polish’. does that make sense? words like ‘przejrzysty (clear), przymrużyć (to squint), źdźbło (grass blade), chrząszcz (beetle)’. they taste like home.

☯ : what do you love about your language?

that would be the infinite amount of swear words as stand-ins for normal verbs and the infinite amount of diminutives. also the fact that you can make diminutives out of swear words, which makes them sound like endearments. and that by adding a prefix (which there are a few) you can change the meaning of the verb, which must be really terrible for polish language learners. (I guess some of this is shared by other slavic languages)

✓ : funniest word in your language

I already wrote one, but here’s another: turkuć podjadek (mole cricket). I cannot begin to try to explain why, but it basically sounds like some friendly, if a little pathetic, monster from children’s book, but funnier.

Leshy: you walk through a forest filled with whispers and hungry eyes - do you stray from the path?

not at first. the whispers chill my blood, the eyes burn my skin. I walk a winding path, the forest’s hands reaching, searching on both sides. I can’t see the daylight through the crowns, but it shouldn’t be past sunset yet. the path unravels in crooks and swerves endless, endless, endless. my feet hurt. my throat’s dry. tears gather under my lids, as if shutting them tight could stop the rustles and whispers. I need to keep going. gods help me, I’m afraid to die. hours pass. maybe minutes. my skin no longer burns and the blood flows in mellow torrents thorugh my tired body. they are no longer whispers, but chuckles. there’s no hunger in their eyes - just mirth. how long? how long? another shaky breath. another trembling step. the dirt drinks hungrily from the cuts in my soles. another turn. no more. No more, please. the branches close gently behind me, brushing my skirts. so be it. tonight, the forest will sing of a feast.

Topielec: you wade in water on a quiet evening - is it a lake, a river, or maybe sea?

it’s quiet by the lake. I huff into my cupped hands as I take the first step, the air not yet warmed by springtime winds. the stars tremble in the inky darkness swaying between my legs, their swimming dance confusing to my eyes. four steps in and they clung to my hands. another one and I l’m laying down dancing with them.

Perun: the sky tears open with thunder - are you scared or are you one with the storm?

 sometimes, I ride on thunders. sometimes, I cower in tree’s roots. aaand I ran out of words. gosh but that was close.

ahh. I don’t have one that really stands out. there are some I like to rewatch, and some that impressed me very much, but those two categories don’t necessarily overlap.

37. Favorite swear word?

please, as a slavic person, choosing one is impossible. though recently I’m overusing this weird thing: ‘fucking kurwa hell’

45. What is your favorite accent?

I like various british accents, but mostly scottish I think
